Hayes Rotory

I like the picket idea RoadRaceJosh had in the other thread, provided as he said we had some factual information about Hayes' ripoffs printed up. I'm down for some peaceful protest Saturdays.

what about those consumer reports they do on tv every now and then where they "bust the business" by putting hidden cameras or getting an insider. or BBB can be an options. i'd totally use my FD as the decoy car if it ended up busting them in the long run.

Years ago, when I started doing engines, I took him 3 or 4 sets of old steel to have resurfaced. hayes gave really good phone and thats what drew me in. The plan was to leave him with enough for several engines and that way I could pick up the machined ones when I needed a set (me driving from spokane). We agreed on 90 dollars per set , both over the phone and in person when I left them there. When they were ready , a friend of mine,Jeff was going to Seattle so I had him pick up the first set for me. Jeff said that they had left the machined parts near the door and in the rain- getting wet. Then Hayes would not let him have the parts unless he was paid 120 dollars. He claimed that he had wanted 30 dollars per surface. This was an outright lie from someone that has religious garbage all over his shop. My friend paid the money and that was the last time and only time I will ever deal with him. I never went back for the other rusty housings either. The best thing that you can do is not give him any business and to tell everyone you can to stay away. Forget about the bombs and that nonsense.

I just dont understand how people keep taking their **** to them, either personally, or through another company (IE - Why would the company send the **** to them). Ive personally talked to the owner of the store a couple times, and been to his house a few times as well (where he has a couple RX-3s, a couple RX-7s, a REPU or two, and a Cosmo), and everytime I didnt get a good impression from him at all. I just dont like the shop, or the people who work there. They let me walk around the shop with them once, and its crazy. They have rotor housings and plates stacked floor to ceiling in areas, and BINS of USED seals. Tell me, why would you KEEP used seals? He told me they measured them for clearances and kept them if they were still good when they tore down motors in case someone wanted to "save money" on a rebuild. Its just a mess, no real organization at all. I understand its a shop, but damn. Anyway, thats just my two cents.

It is too bad they have such a bad rep. I however have never had a problem with them. Although I haven't gone to them with my FD, only years ago when I had a stock first gen.
They also built my N/A street port S4 motor in my old GTU that I've sold to my friend. The motor has 25,000 miles (or so) on it now and still runs strong. I was however very disappointed with it's hp (never dynoed), the car just feels slow compaired to a S3 SE. But maybe that was the difference in weight of the cars.
Otherwise I'm scared of them now due to this forum and all the stories here.

from my dads experience with his 7 and hayes...and all the crap we've been seeing since we started to work on re=wiring a few thing in his 7, and looking at the work dr.jones63 and i did with my car....i think its safe to say, if you know your car, and are willing to put the time into it....you might as well just do it yourself over hayes....its just a matter of how you want it done, and getting it there...

Lets get a big group of people. and go protest that they have bad service.
If any thing we can stop some people from going there. I thought about doing this to Mazdas and more at one time ...lol

He told me that the delay was because the people supplying the housing was behind. Don told me a week ago that the parts had arrived but that Hayes was getting ready to move to a new location because their lease was up (Totem Lake area near the Fred Meyers) so it'd take a little over a week to put the car together.
I haven't heard from him since. Now I'm worried. Does anyone else have any info?

I've called and called. They are not answering their phones. I'll drive by today after work (5:30-6:00) but that won't be tell well after they go home (3:00) so I'm not sure if that will do any good.

I dont know if I should be saying anything, but there has been a formal lawsuit filled by a forum memeber here who contacted many dissatisfyied fellow hayes victums to which his lawyer, with their permision, took statments from all. Looks like it went through.

I just got my car back from them on Friday unfinished because i needed it. I've been talking to Don personally. I just live up the street from Hayes Rotary. Hes been closed Thur and Fri yes, but Don told me that they are moving to a new location, possibly in Kikland. They say the lease on the building is up. I've herd nothing else about ciminal acts. I'll be stopping by their tomorrow to ask them about a letter I recieved from the State Revenue office with their Address on it saying that I owe 60,000. I'll try to get your questions answers just shoot me a pm.
