There is no way that statement is true, what about lubing the water pump? Water doesn't do that one...

Water mixed with "Water Wetter". Adds a lubricating property to water. Also make sure to use distilled water.

especially under pressure. That's the whole point of it. I'm with kompresserlogic on this one. I would never run straight water. Water will run hotter.

Coolant increases the boiling point of the cooling system. PSI increases the boiling point of the cooling system.

Water's boiling point is 100 C / 212 F
50/50 coolant/water mix increases boiling point to 106 C / 223 F
70/30 coolant/water mix increases boiling point to 113 C / 235 F

And for every pound of pressure in the cooling system the boiling point is rises by 3 F.

someone needs to get laid? That's hillarious! I guess you haven't met me or the family Greg. Sorry about spreading some knowledge for you. Just thought you may not want to have that problem again. I have been working on my educations seeing as I work in the automotive industry so I thought I would share. Now about the getting laid part... I guess you would know better than I would?! Then again... Look at your post count! Someone spends a bit more time in front of a computer than even me!

A couple other facts for you guys.

Running straight water in any rotary is a death sentence for it eventually. Coolant stops electrolysis, the aluminum and iron will eat each other apart faster than regular corrosion. Do a google on it.

Water transfers heat better than coolant but the problem is it will boil to easily at the localized hot spots.

Seeeeeeeeee water tranferes heat better than coolant.
My cars water temp is usually at 175* without my fan on. The only time i have to turn it on is when I'm stuck in traffic. Good info though guys, thanx

I just filled my 83 GSL and all I do is fill with 1 gallon of coolant and top the rest off with water. Probably gives around a 70/30 mix. according to FSM 9-10 qts
