is a frog's a-- water tight??

got an electrical question.

I got an 86 fc gxl. when my buddy got the car, he chopped the harness that came out of the passenger side firewall.

my question is, that part of the harness, what does that control?

my instrument panel (the middle of the dash), gauges, and wiper motor dont work.

if anyone can help me out tha would be the shizz!!! thanks.

The engine. That harness is called the "emmisions harness". Suprised she runs with it cut.

Smack your freind upside the head..,
Does the car run at all?..

That Harness leads to all kinds of stuff.. AFM, MAP, O2, Alt, Inj, emissions crap & so forth..
Are you saying he cut the whole thing?
What the hell possesed him to do that?

Start looking for an S4 NA harness in the for sale section..

dude... all makin people try and figure out what's wrong with your Rx-7 when the heart was removed and replaced with a 350... DUH!!! it's not going to need the Rx-7 harness. It's not an Rx-7 anymore. Looks like one, but there's no "R" in it anymore.

part of the passenger harness does run to the wiper motor however you will need to redo that to make it work,,, as for your gauges not sure where they run or anything, some of the gauge wires are on the passenger harness do any of them work??

I think you need to read my post THOROUGHLY.

“my question is, that part of the harness, what does that control?
my instrument panel (the middle of the dash), gauges, and wiper motor dont work. “

metallic rock -
“ all makin people try and figure out what's wrong with your Rx-7 when the heart was removed and replaced with a 350.”

I never asked anything about my motor.. it wasn’t relevant in this question. I asked bout the harness and stated that my instrument panel, gauges, and WIPER motor don’t work. I didn’t say my car didn’t run or that I couldn’t pass emissions.

And I thank those guys who actually responded with helpful information… not whining because they misread a simple question.

Metallic rock-
“it's not going to need the Rx-7 harness”

In fact it does. The motor might not use it, but the rest of the car will. SUCH AS WHAT I ASKED. GAUGE CLUSTER, INSTURMENT PANEL, HELL EVEN LIGHTS.

Metallic rock-
“It's not an Rx-7 anymore. Looks like one, but there's no "R" in it anymore.”

Depends on how you look at it. “R” for rotary or rod and pistons. Rx7 is an rx7 to me. Whether it has a 13b, sr20det, rb26dett, or 2.4 vtec motor in it. I know it aint the “purist” view, but I look at a car as itself.. regardless of what motor is running it.

I don’t call Hondas with rotaries rx7s. (if you think its bs, check Puerto Rico’s drag racing circuit, they have many rotary powered cars.)

I guess I’m just a little more open minded.

New question!!!

you know when you turn on the headlights, the rear "service/brake" light comes on. Well, my brake lights work, but not my service light. i changed all 4 bulbs and just wanna know if anyone gots any ideas. i was gonna drive it up to seattle today, but some small issues held me back. i aint tryna get busted by the WSP biotches for no exhaust.

get at me with anything that could help. f--k h8rs too.

You might get more help if you posted here https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine-conversions-non-v-8-118/ as well. As for help, look at the FSM (in the 2nd gen sticky here https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/faq-fc-frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-a-181219/) and haynes manual it should help ya quite a bit.

And I am a "h8r" so i guess you hate me too
(also thread name could use some help to actually reflect whats in the thread, i clicked on it thinking it was another one of our ever-present 'bump' / spam threads)

thread name... well to get attention. it worked right?

i know i should post in the 2nd gen, but figured i'd post in the NW kuz i got alot of friends here. i might get torched in the 2nd gen forum for the v8 conversion!!!

i looked at it and still couldnt answer my question. why my brake lights work, but the service (comes on when you turn on your lights) lights dont come on. but i'll have to look at the fuses i guess.
