Okay, well slowly getting everything back together. Currently working on a few side projects and starting on the beginning plans of a custom from splitter/diffuser.

I was lucky enough to have a professional automotive modeler work in the same building as I do. He's worked for the likes of Lotus, Jaguar, and few race teams back in the UK doing modeling for custom bodywork on racecars. Him and his son will be doing a clay model of the splitter I envision and will be making molds off of it. See attached photos for visual reference of the direction I'm going. IT requires some imagination.

^ That is amazing. I'm definatly impressed with that carbon front bumper and lower ductwork in the last picture. I'm planning to make another FC in which aerodynamics will be a major priority. Best of luck with that project! Please take many pictures!

Alright, the modeler has the template and has already done some work on the top portion of the splitter and it looks good even in rough form. I'll take some photos when a finalized form is done.

Currently working on a catch tank GB, but beyond that also working on my custom power steering tank, front tow hook and Wide Foot sway bar mount reinforcement crossbar.

How much downforce does that produce? Is there a wing that you are matching it with? And will you make available just a front splitter/undertray separate from the bumper? I'm not willing to part with my '99 spec yet. Is there a thread for the catch tank GB yet? And will you be producing more of the power steering tanks?

I’ll have to do some research to get an actual Mazda claimed Cd and Cl numbers, but it will be more than the R1 lip. The splitter should produce quite a bit of downforce as long as I don’t get flow separation at the diffusers. Yes I will make a production run if enough people are interested, there’s actually a front lip that will go with the splitter that will go with the 99 spec/stock bumper, it’s just moth balled until the splitter is done.

Yes, I have three wings I’m looking at, two are Voltex units and the third is a Simon Mcbeath design from DJ Race cars.

The catch tank GB is in the rotary car club site, and if enough people show interest I can make a GB of the steering pump reservoir.

There's a website that lists the aero figures for the R1 lip from mazda, I can dig up the link if you need it. Put me down as interested for the lip/splitter.

Have you also looked at RE-Amemiya wings?

I will most likely sign up for the catch tank and am interested in a PS reservoir.

I have some wind tunnel data for a stock '99 RX-7 equipped with the functional rear wing (and '99 front lip). This is Mazda's own wind tunnel data taken from a 1999 Japanese promotional video. After some difficulty with the translation I figured the information was in fact lift coefficients for the front and the rear of the car. FWIW

'99 Rear wing angle........Clf.................................. .Clr
(degrees)........................(front lift coefficient)........(Rear lift coefficient)
1.....................................0.045....... .....................0.000
5.....................................0.047....... .....................-0.025
10...................................0.051........ ....................-0.058
14.5................................0.053......... ....................-0.075

I would also assume this is at stock ride height and with the stock '99 suspension.
I dunno if this is what you were looking for but I'll offer it up anyway.
Regards,
Crispy

I believe the Re-Amemiya wing is a Voltex unit. But I may be wrong, thought general shape it the same as voltex's type 1 and 2 units. I'm looking at the type 3 and 7 units.

Thanks Crispy, did they happen to specify the air speed at which those numbers were taken?

Thanks for the props Jordan, it's an ever evolving project.

Power steering tank done, just need to sand blast it and ceramic clear coat it. Also working on my rear tow hook attached to my trailer hitch, lol.

interesting, you put your battery kill switch behind the license plate so when you're on-track you just take off the plate? is the license plate light in the way or did you not have to modify anything, just mount the switch? i can't remember what it looks like back there i havnt even seen my car for awhile hah.

Yep, and no the light is not in the way, the lights are in a different location. I had to cut into the aluminum crush structure and the rear bumper license plate area, but it wasn't a big deal. It is a tight fit though. I have photos of the install way earlier in this long *** build blog.

Lol, not yet, I still don't have a trailer to go with that hitch. It's on my long list of thing to make or buy.

I need to give you your voltmeter back Jared. You could invite me to dinner to have some awesome cooking from your wife, I'll bring it with me, hehe.

Come April/May I will be making some CF ducting. Will actually make a proper mould this time around. I'll make one for you while I'm at it. How does that sound? Or are you happy with the one we made, it's not pretty, but it does get the job done.

Lol!

I'll see about dinner.

No, the current duct is not pretty, but since it's covered with foil, and you can't see most of it anyway, I don't really care.

And it does get the job done.

I'm going to focus on some other things. (as soon as I get this FC out of my garage)

Just ordered a CoolingMist trunkmount kit to do water injection.

Still need to install some other parts.

And I want to build a splitter and undertray.
That should be interesting, though I'm not aiming for anything quite like the one you are designing.

It has been brought up in a number of threads about whether Vintage Red, or any other colors for that mater had a clear coat or note: I just read my Mazda collision guide which I link here.

http://www.mazdaspeeddevelopment.com...x7_9395_cg.pdf

‘93-94 all metallic’s are clear coat and code 051 is three stage. ‘95 all clears are clear coat and Vintage Red "NU" is three stage.

Yeah, I'm looking for something that will generate over a 100 counts of downforce at triple digits. Here's a CAD ISO view to show you the direction I'm going.

I don't see how this relates here but yea NU is a tri-stage candy, that's how I had my car repainted.
