Well, after thinking over what happened, basically it was my fault. I misunderstood the setup recommendation from one of the Synapse Reps on connecting the EBC to the WG. Plus a weeks worth of sleep deprivation and being under the gun to get the car ready for the Saturday track event severely clouded my judgement that night. If I had not been so tired and had checked everything before I did a full throttle pull this would have never happened. This was a very expensive lesson, but it's fixable. I just need to muster up the money to get the turbo and engine fixed.....So close.
All three apex seals, the rear rotor and rotor housing are toast, hopefully the side plates are still good. Anyboy got a set of Iannetti one piece ceramic apex seals for a good price? Also a rotor and rear housing that's in good shape?

I had a very similar experience when the vacuum nipple on the wastegate had somehow come loose and fallen off. The wastegate stayed closed as I accelerated and if it wasn't for the warning light on my gauge I would have stayed in the gas and blown it sky high...seeing my gauge sweep past 1 bar I let off right away and saved the engine. It is really too bad you didn't catch it in time.
This is such a comprehensive build, it is a shame to not see it up and running with you able to enjoy your hard work. Hopefully it is worked out soon! Best of luck.
ps...I guess you know that all the fabrication is the hard part. A rotor, some apex seals and a new housing, although bad and unexpected, is a drop in the bucket compared to the grand scheme of your entire setup. Hopefully it doesn't set you back for very long.

Yeah, right now I'm in the process gathering up the cash for the repairs. I will be posting a FS listing of all the parts and items I don't need anymore for this build. It's three pages long in Word right now.
I need to get another mechanical Boost gauge that I can place in my line of sight. Hope ProSport Gauges takes on the FlyRX7 gauge build....

Sadly, I have a feeling I won't have the motor and turbo back in by then. The turbo will take some time to get fixed. Sean is hooking me up, time will be the hidden cost though.
We'll see, if I'm back in the game before Steve comes I will ask to be put on the roster again.

No problem man, take the time you need. When I did my first build I blew the motor pretty shortly after the build. It is discouraging, but once you get back on the road it is twice as rewarding! Wish I lived a little closer so that I could give you a hand.

Almost there with getting the necessary funds, just need to sell more stuff and do Jkstill's v-mount.
While waiting I've been redesigning the IC endtanks. Not finished, but this will give an idea towards the direction I'm going. The inlet tank needs some tweaking for the correct inlet direction.

Recieved the replacement Iannetti 2mm ceramic apex seals and a second set of new springs. Will be ordering the other parts towards the end of this months, once I recoup from my DGRR08 trip. I really can't afford it, but I need it.

Yeah, I'm trying to do it on the cheap too. Shacking up with others (Cabin 1019 Party House FTW!), the plane trip was $219, reserved it a long time ago with my corporate travel arrangements, saved something like $60 over cheaptickets.com.

End tank design pretty much done, also thinking of making a limited production run of passenger footrest soon. Will be using step railing similar to picture posted. If I do, four of them are already spoken and maybe one extra.
Currently working on jkstill's v-mount. Intercooler assembly attached.
Also thinking of modifying the center steering column pod to integrate a Apexi power commander screen, modifying the screen with a red LED and then modifying a Miata Nardi steering wheel with the stereo controls to control the commander (CYD idea). Winter project.....

It is Solidworks, I can do flow analysis in Catia V5. Haven't got around to doing that.
I also plan on CMMing the passenger compartment and my Sparco EVO2 seats so I can get an accurate placement of the seats when I get around to designing the seat mount brackets. The cool thing with that is I will then have a seat mount design that will work for just about every side mounted seat out there.

Well, took the motor apart and got a few surprises, looks like I need to get the irons laped and re-coated if possible. May need to get new ones, let's hope not. Everything else that blew up was expected. Not pretty.
Will be buying parts soon. Depending on if the irons are salvagable or not I may have the motor built by the end of May.
