ECU Fried AGAIN What the Hell.
Driving home today after work. Take the off ramp to 348 federal way. Light turns green hit the gas it stals, sputters, backfires. The only way to go is to lightly apply the throttle and no boost at all. Any time you hit the gas even moderately it sputters and no power.
So i finally get home, check all the connections and hoses not that many. Everything looks ok. Still sputtering. Pull the negative off of the battery for about five minutes. Hook it back up start the car, which idles and starts fine. Hit the gas now its worse backfiring right around 2000 to 3000 rpm, nice healthy bombs.
So I hooked it to the timing light. Timing advances fine when you lightly pull the throttle. Tming does not advance hardly at all if you blip the throttle quickly.
This is exactly the same problem I had about a month ago. I ending up swapping the ecus out a 374 for another 374 and it ran beautifully until today. I haven't touched anything under the hood for at least five days, hard to believe but thats the truth.
So I am calling on all turbo/fuel injection experts to solve this puzzle. Otherwise its back to Avis and the toyota Corolla, and nobody wants that.
P.S If any one says "do you have the little pill in the boost line" I am going to scream!!!!
Thanks your my only hope.

Man I wish that I would have bought a s5 cause I would give you one for free, Sadly thought all I have is a 3rd gen ecu.
Come one guys this is one good guy...can someone help him out?
Good luck on the fix. Let me know if you need any help. I will be in the area in a couple days.

My car is still doing the same thing. Even after swapping with a known good ECU it still runs the same. Exact same senario as yours..loud fires and sputeer if you push the pedal past 1/5 of the way. ****. the car looks so good too! Run dammit!! Any ideas yet?

u know that sputtering and only very light throttle sounds alot like the car might be going into "limp mode" had same symptoms last week. on my NA s5 its when the electronic OMP is throwing a code. also sometimes when the OMP fails it can damage the ECU with it!!!
do u know how to check for codes from your ecu??

Thanks Ryan, i sent you a pm I didn't wire up a cel when i did the swap. I figured it would be on all the time, because i removed all the emission devices. I might look into wiring one up though.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

actually, if you just wire up a LED temporarily for the CEL you would probably get emissions codes, but youd also be able to see if theres anything else going wrong.
ON a lighter note, Ive got this amazing CULTURE CLUB CD that will magically fix your ECU once you put it in your cd player
