C6 Corvette vs MY FD
EVEN! HAHA how about that?! 1st thru 3rd dead even and I gave him a 2 length head start, caught his door and held it right there!! (see sig for mods) WOW those vette's are NICE! I think this one had exhaust cuz it was damn loud... The driver was hella cool, not cocky at all, after we played around for a few miles he flipped a b**** to go after a Viper. The front end lift is very similar to the FD when you get on it. Oh yea, shortly after I got out of the movies and hit up the parking garages to make some noise, I passed an Eclipse GST that tried to race me... TRIED! I'd have to say that is the slowest turbocharged car I have ever raced... It was like racing MOST hondas... All in all I guess yesterday was a good day!

Honetly I have no idea what I am currently putting down! The car still needs to be tuned and I'm just waiting for this motor to go cuz it has some SERIOUS issues... But all that aside with the condition the motor is in I'd say maybe 275whp to 300whp tops... I did a baseline dyno (pre-mods) at 80k (bought with 56k) and it put down 208.0whp and 180.5 torque... I've been told by MANY on the forum that those numbers were super low... But it's still a high 12 low 13 second car. I ran a 13.6 pre PFC and MBC and that was my ONE run where I didn't break anything and I was booted from Pac Raceways for NO helmet. If you've got a HUGE single you should EASILY take a C6

For you to hang with a stock C6 (given both drivers drive the same) your numbers should be much higher than what you're saying.
Heck, the numbers you are putting out you would get beat up by a C5.
Take it in and get it dyno'd and tuned.. you gotta be doing at least like 340-350 to the wheels.
The weight difference can't be THAT much

I highly doubt it's that high, but I guess it's a possibility....
Nevermind! Come to think of it I should be around there, Cuz that was my estimate after seeing an HKS FD with the same mods as my car, but different boost controller and ECU, before I got the BC and PFC... SO Maybe I should go dyno tune my car....

I don't see any turbo upgrade in your mods list, so am I to assume you are still running the stock twins? I don't think you can put down enough power with the stock twins to beat a C6 Corvette.
And if you didn't dyno tune, who and how exactly DID you tune your car?

Yes I'm running stock twins which in case you didn't know ARE capable of 10 second passes with the right set-up! The PFC came pre-tuned for my mods and I haven't had it re-tuned since. I've only driven about 500 miles on the PFC and with spontaneous issues with my coolant system I am afraid to pay good money to have it re-tuned until AFTER I get my new motor... It's just not reliable enough to take it down to Portland as I would like. But hey I'm not gonna force you to believe what I witnessed with my own eyes... And my passenger too =) Call bullshit if you'd like, but I'll gladly do it again for proof!

I know that the new z06's are supposed to run an 11.5 in the 1/4. However these are at optimal conditions and excellent drivers. It seems to me that most people that are off the street run 2-3 tenths higher than this(11.7-11.8). I am not sure on the plain ol' C6 corvette but it has to be a little amount less that that. 12.5 sounds right and if my previous ststment about error in the time they would be around a 12.7-12.8. Still really fast...

10 second passes on STOCK twins?!
Mind showing me who/where and some proof? Because I'm not sure I believe that... Best I've seen with the twins still being used was with the highest BNR upgrade you could get, and he was only putting down like 350rwhp or so, and he kept killing them over and over because they couldn't handle the abuse at those levels.
But if you say stock twins can do 10 second passes well then shoot, why would anyone ever upgrade to a big single or better twins? What's the point if the stockers can do 10's?

Stock C6 vettes put out around 350rwhp. 350rwhp is capable on the stock twins without upgrading them, I got 348 at 1.0 bar on stock twins. I made 300rwhp at 12 psi with nearly same mods as Mazdatim before getting a fuel pump, afpr, and injectors. I was maxing my injector duty cycle even at 12psi. 14psi is awfully high boost to run without upgraded injectors, fuel pump, and dyno tuning. Personally I wouldn't go past 10 psi. With those mods and 14psi he could easily have enough power to stay even or beat a C6 Vette. Although I would recommend you lower your boost until you can upgrade your fuel system and get it tuned. Do you not have a commander? You wouldn't need an MBC if you had a commander. I believe 10s has happened before on the stock twins a long time ago. Recently someone made 10s on upgraded twin turbos, I think there is only 2-3 people who have made 10s with stock/modified stock twin turbos so you can judge how valid you consider 10s capable to be.

I bought the MBC before I got the PFC with commander to help limit the boost a little cuz I at one time had a 20psi spike!!!

The owner of the shop I go to has a 94 FD with a BNR upgrade and he's at 402 whp at 18psi..... I would venture to guess the reason why people go single rather than use stock twins for a 10 second car would be teh amount of work it takes to get there! I would assume it's a lot easier when you have the air volume of a T4 turbo as compared to that of the HT12's.... I never said it was COMMON or EASY... Just said it was possible.

Alright so it's possible... But then why does anyone upgrade is my question? If you can do 10's on the stock twins, why upgrade to better twins or a big single?

I would assume it's a lot easier when you have the air volume of a T4 turbo as compared to that of the HT12's... Also, have you heard the difference in noise created by a BIG single as compared to the stock twins??!! lol That alone is reason enough to me!

My guess would be reliability and cost. It is probably going to take you almost as much $ to get to 400rw as it will to slap a single turbo on that beast. At this point you have to look at a few factors
1. Room for advancement
2. Efficiency of the turbo(s)
3. Relaibility
All of these are limited by the already taxed modified twins. While the single just has room to grow.
Those are the reasons that I went with a single...oh and one last thing I looked at the mess called twins and decided that I did not want to deal with that headache
