Bullshitiest Ticket!

so i'm driving I5 south by arlington
speed limit 70

going the speed limit and this motorcycle cop passes me going about 80

he is in the far right lane and i am in the far left

i follow a ways behind him for a bout a mile

he pulls off the road

i keep going and he crosses all four lanes of traffic to pull me over. i am in the left lane and try to cross trarric to pull over to the right but i see his finger pointing to the left to i comply

cop: you were going about 80 back there! this is a 70mph zone!

me: how could you tell sir? you were way ahead of me, may i see the radar?

cop: i don't need a radar, i was reverse pacing you!

me: you passed me and i just followed you, i never went faster than you did!

cop: i saw you in my rear view mirror! you think i'm just out riding for fun?

me: no your obviously out here trying to bust people by tricking them.

cop: see thats why your getting a ticket! i don't want to argue with you! you can take it to court! here is your ticket. going 78 in a 60.

me: but this is a 70mph zone sir.

cop: huh?

me: you said this was a 70mph zone!

cop: oh yeah, let me correct that. and by the way its a $1001 fine for pulling over to the left.

me: are you fuckign joking me?! you pointed to the left when i was signalign to go right!

cop: whatever, here is your ticket!

78 in a 70! i'm fighting this one, i ride motorcycles as well and know that with properly adjusted mirrors a car 3 lanes over would have to be so far behind you that you woulnt be able to judge its speed.

No such thing as reverse paceing. get a lawyer. his word is allways better in court than yours. Call fred hopkins 425.391.7427. Tell him you heard about him on VW vortex and it'll be $250, but he'll get it dropped. Turst me you need a lawyer. I had a cop tell me he just gave me the ticket so I would fight it and He'd get the overtime. If they get suppena they get a minimum 3 hours ovetime even if it takes 15 minutes... I still got the ticket. all the judge said was "wow that's unprofessional, why didn't you suppena him?" I said i wasn't going to give him the OT. Judge didn't believe me and gave me the ticket anyway...

Wow and I thought bosscobra got a bullshit ticket for an "abandoned vehicle" while he was parting out his FD ON HIS PROPERTY... That cop sounds like a dick. Making up bullshit infractions. Take his *** to court!!!

i don't want to pay $300 on a lawyer for a $91 ticket. i know it may come back later in my insurance, but i had a passenger with me to be a witness. i also have a ticket with corrections on it because the officer didn't know what he was doing. i'll make a copy of that before i send it out. and i will bring the WA motor cycle operator booklet to show how far away from him i had to have been for him to even see me. innocent until proven guilty and there is no solid proof i was speeding. and if i was speeding, i was just following his fat ***.

So obviously he didn't give you the 1001 fine for pulling over to the left then....sounded like he did in your previous post.

Well, on a 91 dollar ticket, take your buddy to courty with you and kiss *** to that judge and you might get lucky. Never say the cop was "wrong", just state what YOU were doing and what the cop was doing and never actually imply that what the cop did was wrong. Judges usually don't like people ripping on their officers, so be poetic about it. Just say you don't understand how an office can accurately "reverse pace" and vehicle from 3 lanes over and however far away he was and that you feel that there may be some mistake.

It's the best you can do for a "$91 ticket".

Win, lose, or draw....you know you still have to egg that cops house.

My town is full of them. I know most of them through my business, or alot of them I should say. They are all the same in the way they abuse their priviledge of power. Even the fire fighters around here walk around like they are a god on this earth.

All of which forget a real, true bad *** fireman/cop is one who knows his place as a public servant, and stays humble in their position of power and is greatful to be in that position.

Yeah, you'd be better off trying to win the lotto than finding a cop like that ^

As soon as you can, request a copy of the officer's report. It is separate from the actual ticket itself. It is where the officer describes the incident in his own words and what the judge usually relies on. That is what you need to shoot holes through to win. The less the officer puts in that report the better your chances are of winning.

I second getting the "officers report" or discovery. You'll need to write a request to both the courthouse AND the prosecutor to obtain the discovery. Get on this quickly because it can take a couple weeks and this is KEY. You have to know what's going to be used against you.

Also, in a misdemeanor or traffic infraction you're not "innocent until proven guilty", since you didn't do anything criminal... So yeah, they don't have to prove you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or anything.

I think you've got a really good chance at this, but you have to find out what the officer said you were doing and what he was doing.

BTW, funny story...

I paid the ticket I recently got and then get a notice in the mail that my license is going to be suspended on September 17th for non-payment. I took a copy of my cancelled check to the department of licensing and was told I have to take it to the court, blah blah blah They screw up and I have to waste time running all over the place. What is going on with all this BS? Really doesn't instill much faith in those who are out there to "protect and serve."

I really do think that there are good cops and bad cops. But there is one thing that I think pisses me off the most. Has anyone heard of this "Emphasis Patrols"? They usually do them on holiday weekends and they are total bullshit. Its an excuse to set-up more cops than usual for speedtraps. What about the real crime?

Sorry guy, but that was not smart.

He's a cop, and he can write you a ticket, which he did.

Why be a smartass?

Just be polite "Yes Sir", "No Sir", "I'm sorry sir" and "I won't do it again"

It doesn't matter if you were right, what matters is avoiding the ticket in the first place.

Sue the cop for making a falsefied report. Take him to court, and wast the hell out of his time. I'm sure if you push hard enough, you can get him fired.

This is one reason why I'm planning on installing a video recording system in my car, which includes a speedometer pickup. You get a bogus ticket, go to court, prove it was wrong. Then, take the cop to court, and have his face fired.

There are many restrictions for "illegally modifying" your vehicle. Suspension is the main one. But cops that are real dicks will try to find anything they can write up as extra. The main issue with exhaust is Noise Ordinance violations inside city limits. Hell in Lynnwood you don't even have to have subs to get a ticket. Their law states that if the music can be heard outside the car it is TOO LOUD and warrants a fine. I was threatened a ticket a few years back by a Lynnwood cop for my stereo which was at volume 10, listening volume is usually 28!! It was a very loud stereo, but not at 10!! Each city is different, but most problem areas for "illegal modifications" are inside city limits in the towns where street racing is a constant. Hence the reason Sacramento and San Diego cops are so despised. If there is not a sticker on any aftermarket part stating that it is 50 state legal then it is "illegal" according to their laws...! Just be smart when you're driving and hopefully they'll avoid you. They have avoided me since I have gotten my FD. As long as it doen't appear like a ricer and you don't look like a "punk street racer kid" (vague stereotype) then they will show you respect. I have been pulled over 3 times for no front plate, 2 before the FMIC, and never once received a ticket. The majority of the time spent on the shoulder was the cop wanting to know about the car and compliment my taste... Every cop is different and I pray each time I am flagged down that I don't get the dreaded *******.... I say you all do the same!
