Barack Obama is going to buy my car for $4,500

I was just looking at the Cash for Clunkers program and my 1985 Rx7 is going to qualify. Barack Obama will buy my Rx7 for $4,500 and I am pretty pleased with that!

That being the case, I will be pulling of the good parts and putting old worn out parts on it, and trading it in on a new Mazda. As long as I can drive it in, they will take it. Since I have a Mazda Competition membership, they give me their “S-Plan” pricing, which means I can but a car from that at invoice. Looks like my wife will be getting a new car.

I can buy just about any car with the S-Plan, so I am looking at getting a nice little Mazda 3 for my wife.

No need for an interior; but you need to have had it registered and insured in your name for a year prior.

Ya, I really would not take less than $5,000 for mine either, but the President did offer and it is the least I can do for my country.

Before you finalize......
http://environment.about.com/od/cash...r-clunkers.htm

>_> That alone means I'd never consider doing it with any functional vehicle [other than a GM or something similarly bad :P]

If the link goes bad: the entire driveline WILL BE destroyed.. and the rest goes to a U-pull it or similar..

I have a feeling that many FC RX-7s will be scrapped in this program... though doubtfully as "well prepared" as this one.

Yup, I am aware of what they will do to the car...

So, I will put an old dead engine in the car (it only has to run for one block). I will take off all of the nice parts, and I will say good bye to an old friend.

Hmm... If you're doing that...

You could possibly try and buy it back from the scrapper and reinstall the good bits?

Using a line such as "Oh.. a friend wants to know what scrap yard it's going to end up at.. He wanted to buy the shell"

Just a thought ^_-

I wouldn't do it. My cars not even worth that much but heres why. The cash for clunkers program is to make older and less expensive cars into scrap, forcing us to buy newer cars. and would you really want to do that to your seven? Its just mean. Go get a geo, or a crappy civic. and do that.

yeah, he'll buy my 265,000 mile 1990 awd astrovan too, but i can't find anything at a dealer that i want...
the salesman at the LM dealer wants my van cause they dump the oil and add sodium silicate to the crankcase and run it til it seizes. auto euthanasia....
i doubt that many 7's go down the tube 'cause most of us don't want/can't make payments. lol

Once a car has been clunked, you can never reregister it even with good bits. The VIN is deregistered and not allowed to be ever registered again.

Maybe I could still buy it back. It has been my street prepared autocross car. If I could buy it back, I could make it a trailered track car. They have to destroy the engine and drive train, but they can part out the rest.

His idea is simple, and been greatly over looked.... Does anyone remember when he first got into office and tried to pass a law to have every mile of your car taxed? This is his way around that, soon the law will be passed by the senate and the new cars that are being preduced will shortly be equiped with that... 5 years later........We have a new, unbelivable tax..... Ge, i cant wait..... Oh yeah!!!

But thats just my two cents from watching the bills that have been and are trying to be passed, although i think he is doing better than i could in his seat!!!!

The amount you get is based on the mileage difference between your trade in and your new car. If the difference is less than 10 MPG than you get $3,500 if it is 10 or more, you get $4,500.

The problem is it looks like the President has spent all of his money already, and will not get to buy my car.

From what I've read, the program is still in process and should still be honored but I would check cars.gov for updated information.

I was suspended at 12:00 last night (eastern time 9:00 our time), I was at the car dealer until 7:50 to make a deal. We will see if it is re-funded.

Well it looks good that they will re-fund the program. So this weekend I plan on swapping out the Torsen rear end and Panhard bar off my car. Pulling the whole front suspension and putting something else on. Pull the GSL-SE fuel tank and put in a 12A tank. Then, (or maybe first), I will drop in an old 13B with a Niki carb. It just has to run for 1 minute.
