Sorry - we should have told you that
If you haven't done a lot of autocrossing though, you should run novice (rules say less than 5 events) and you can stay there for the whole season. If your on street tires, run tire class with the SM2 PAX index. If you're on DOT R compounds run sports prepared.
The 2008 rule book should be up in the next couple of days. We've made some good changes to the prepared and mod classes.
Hope to see you there.

Well, I registered. I hope that I can make it since I have several other things going on this weekend. Novice class since this would be my first EVER autoX. In fact, I was thinking of chickening out and taking my Mazda3 instead of the FD.
Never too old to make a fool of myself.

well better luck next time sunny jim. I can't drive mine. The shop with my diff is wanting to do things right and taking their sweet *** time. It's a good thing but hard to swallow when there will be a dry sunny open practice track day in February and you waited through the winter for such occasions. fingers crossed for the next one.

Cone Killer!!!
Well, I chewed up and spat out a bunch of cones today for my first-ever autocross attempt. I had a blast!!! I showed up early with my FD and stood around and froze my butt off. The folks at BSCC were very helpful and encouraging. There seemed to be a fair number of complete noobs such as myself there as well. One of the more experienced folks rode with me for 3 of my 4 runs. He was very helpful (Evo owner btw). I also got to ride once with him as he blasted through the course. It gave me the chance to see what it feels like to drift in a very expensive car. Anyway, I only ran one clean run. The rest were pretty pathetic with a number of missed gates and lots of cones. I have lots of room for improvement at least. I definitely want to do it again. I am never going to take it seriously like some of these guys do, but it was fun killing cones, burning gas, and wearing away my tires.

David,
I"m glad you had fun. Yeah, Brent is a great guy and fast, he will be instructing at the novice school, which is why I don't share lots of your views on evo owners. He was my first instructor too and drove the crap out my 540
Don't worry about those cones. It's actually good. FOr the most part, you want to be close. Most the national drivers hit lots of cones, and come away with one clean run to win. I can highly recommend keeping a nice coat of wax on your car and getting some speed shine and a nice microfiber towel - the marks will come right off.
Have you thought about coming out for the school on March 2? Lots of seat time, laid back atmosphere and fun.
