There is something similar to this called hornet racing. Total cost of the car had to be under $300 dollars. They eventually banned the FB from it because it kept totally dominating... what a damn shame. Maybe we can exploit this before they figure out to ban the FB.

I'd be down to get either an FC or FB to race. I'm surprised more people haven't yet replied to this. This would be so much fun to do. Five of us, $100 a piece, and some good fun! We could mess with the car up ntil next season... Why not?

Just let me know who is really serious about this.

I would love to do this, but I really need to read up on this more. One of the stipulations of hornet racing was that they could buy the car from you at any time for $300. Can they do that in this league?

Who's going to store the car?

In short interested yes, and willing to put my money where my mouth is.

I definitely want to get this going sometime in either November or December. So we can be ready for next season.

Basically the car and everything we do to it CANNOT be over $500. That doesn't seem easy. Everyone... Keep your eyes peeled for cars and free parts. I'd like for us to represent a rotary powered car, preferably.

Costs:
$500 per car
$100 per driver/pit member
$75 per pit crew member/not driver

So, teams can be bigger than five people. But only five people will be chosen to drive. I don't mind being part of the pit crew or a driver. Although, I do feel safer behind a wrench. Haha

I'm looking for people who are serious about doing this, and looking to have a lot of fun!

Let's get a list going... Let me know whether you are willing to be a Driver (D), Pit Member (P), or either (PD).

1) dwb87 - (PD)
2)
3)

Etc.

We have quite a long thread in the South Forum about our escapades racing rotaries in the 24 Hours of Lemons.

We have raced 13 or so of these events and have run every iteration from very stock to bridgeported to our current setup of full turbo drivetrain.

I love racing Lemons and it has become my new addition.

I am totally down for this! I live in Bellevue

please put me down as a PD.

I will be parting out my blown 8, so I may have a lot of usable extra parts.

I know it says i am a new member but I have been around this forum for many years just not active, as i am on others

I was thinking about like a rotary Miata or perhaps 1st gen would be sweet. I have a VF10 turbo laying around somewhere in great shape.

Sweet! I am in Bellevue, too... Obviously. A rotary powered Miata would be pretty quick on the track. Right now, I am just looking to get a list together. Eventually I will PM everyone to get their contact info. We will all meet up sometime just to talk about what we are going to be doing, what we have to offer, etc...

You guys already have your own race suits, gloves, helmets, shoes, welders, tube benders, tires, ......?
See... This is not an extremely competitive race. They could care less if you're an experienced driver or not. Personally, I am looking for people who want to have fun.

I have access to a welder and am able to weld very well. As for race suits, gloves, helmets, shoes, tires, roll cage, etc... Those can be acquired before next season.

Did you guys read the rule book yet? If its like chump car racing. which most of those cars i think compete in this as well. It can actually be a couple grand to set a car up. cage. fuel cell, you need a fire suit, fire gloves, booties. etc etc. there is a little bit to it.

I have read the rules. Fuel cell isn't necessary. I understand there is quite a bit to it.

The only thing I think is going to be hard, is finding a car for under $500. Fuel costs money, the saftey equipment (roll cage, suits, helmets, gloves, etc.) doesn't count towards the cost of the car. But it all does cost money. And if we don't get this going for next season (2012)... There is always 2013.

Thanks Tweak... I'd much rather have an unexperienced, fun group of guys... Than a guy willing to sell the soul of his car, and drop an LS1 in it.

Whoever drives will also automatically be there as a pit crew member, too. We can have 4-6 drivers. If we get more people wanting to drive, I am willing to serve just as pit crew.

Noxi, Josh, Nytrate... I advise you guys thoroughly read the rules. (It's quite a bit.) I want to be sure you guys are serious about this.

The 2012 schedule has not yet been released.

This can all be discussed when we meet up... After I get everyone's contact information via PM.

I figure we have AT LEAST five to six months to have a team, car, proper equipment, and proper knowledge for this race.

Come on guys leave Tweak alone! Hes a very experienced Rx7 owner Rotaries/turbo's/v8's and made good points on why he doesn't want to suffer the headache of amateurs like myself! Stop hating

As for Lemons, It does seem like its going to cost a pretty penny especially in Safety gear, Like Rotor Tuner said it could end up being around a 2k build for everything we do have time to put some $ away for savings though

My question is, how many races will you be able to compete in. Hell the close one in oregon is a good 4+ hours away. Sounds fun, but for me its alot of money to spend on one race. If you race more, well I have a job, would be spending alot of time and money in gas than you would if you won anything. Just a point to ponder.
