also mechanics in yakima are NOT going to know much (read ANYTHING) about your car. All the ones I have even shown it to act like they know, and drop the normal words, (aka apex, blown, bad) but they really have no clue. I do NOT recommend you EVER take your 7 to a mechanic or even the mazda dealership. There is almost nothing you can't fix yourself for much cheaper.

The dealership in Yakima had my car for 2 weeks before they said sorry take it to Seattle. Autometrics fixed it in 1 day for a hefty price but its been good since then, 5yrs. I killed it at an autocross, but now they wont work on it anymore. You might have to learn about your car like I and maybe most of us did, by trail and error.

Your in west valley? +1 on the club www.cwrotary.net

Sounds like you got a nice support group. I grew up in Yakima and now live in Spokane. My dad has a nice spread out in West Valley off of Autanum. When the car is mobil, we'll have to meet up. I come back every 2-3 months to visit with the fam and friends still. Good luck man!

As far as I know, I have the only FD in the area. I have only seen one other in the city period in the 5 years I've been up here.

re:

iam running stock boost, but it exceeds 10 psi after 4200 rpms, it climbs all the way to 20psi and Im a dumb *** by taking it to 20 psi but I did. and you made a comment about my audio that list is about my car a couple of months ago that I had saved, and copy pasted. I bought the boston acoustics to get a clear crisp sound which It does nicely to go with my 2000 watt 12in mb quart subs. there is also some blow by theres fuel in my oil.

haha. kk bud. It seems as though you have NO clue. There are SOOOO many things wrong there that I am just going to let this one go. Not even going to touch it with a 14.5 ft. pole. Have funs! Let me know when it blows, I might buy it from ya!

HAHAHA

Sorry for sounding like an ***, but you need to research A LOT before you turn on your 7 again.

you're not really going to find any mechanics that will/are able work on a modified rotary in this town.
If you are boosting to 20 without adequate fuel management and hit 20 lbs, you are more than likely in for a rebuild + hard parts.
Have you done a compression check? That is the first place to start, and if that is bad, there is nothing to do other than pull the motor and replace/rebuild it.
There isnt much on these cars that is too hard to do yourself, and even doing part of it will save some green..

i would say that hitting 20 pounds with a street port with 680cc secondarys you would not have enough fuel...

what kind of " performance ecu do u have" ??

If you hit 20 psi, you surely dont have a ported wastegate. A mild port will limit you to under a bar, unless your driving up a three mile long hill with your foot planted. Also, do you have a fuel cut defender. ?

! yeah I forgot that it was already blown O.o lol sorry. I had to reread the thread. Anyways, yeah I can work on your engine if you want, but only AFTER you get fuel, tell me what this performance ECU is? Standalone? and agree to have it tuned and such. First you need to compression test it to see what is actually blown, ( I am guessing you went super lean from the 20 lbs of boost on a STOCK s5 turbo. That is WAY WAY WAY over the efficient range of the s5 turbo, and even meth/water injection wouldn't have helped that one. I wouldn't be surprised if your turbo is about dead also. Your injectors are right on the edge of being too small for 10 psi, let alone 20. You say you have a ported wastegate, yet you are able to hit 20 psi? This doesn’t make since, unless you ran the car without a downpipe or your wastegate is stuck shut...

Anyways compression test it, figure out how blown it is, front or rear ( or both) and then you can either give the engine off to someone that can tear it apart and check to see what you need replaced, or send it off to get a complete rebuild for a lot more. It is quite easy to take the engine apart, and if you take some pictures and get some tools we can guide you through the process of what will need to be replaced. Prepare to spend at LEAST 800$ on rebuild parts if you blew an apex, but more realistically in the 1000$ range. You will most likely need (unless you are the most lucky rotor head on earth) 3 new apex seals (if not all 6) 220$ish a new housing 200$ if you can find it used, 450$ new, new rotor 150-350 used (you don’t want to even know used), new coolant seals and such 185$ from pineapple, and while you’re in there I would either get a port (300ish)(or free yourself), and replace a lot of the springs with 3rd gen. (such as the corner seals, side seal, and apex seal springs.) They are MUCH MUCH better. Most the time the side seals are fine even on blown engines, just the springs have collapsed or became fatigued from high heat cycles.

Anyways, I just want to know... what made you think 10 psi was ok to do, let alone 20???

(oh and I just read that you had your engine rebuilt 2500 miles ago..... and ported so you most likely won’t need to do that again unless the apex F'ed up your plates.) To bad you abused your engine, or else you could have most likely had them rebuild it for pretty cheap. But then again if you wouldn’t have abused it to begin with it wouldn’t have been blown. O.o hehe.

3mm apex seals are a waste of money, and you will either now have to replace your rotors with some that have already been milled out for 3mm, or have one rotor 2mm and one 3mm hehe.

What are you doing with this car? Why did you go 3mm? ALSO I do not think that 2,500 miles is even close to enough break in period for it to be pounded on...

anyways.... yeah that's what you have to deal with right now.

BE MORE NICE TO YOUR 7!

He had to have had a FCD (or it was build into his modified/performance ECU), or else it would have done fuel cut after about 8psi. The SCARY thing is that even if he did have the FCD, the ecu doesnt know what to do with timing after 8ish psi. It just stays the same, at 10, 14, or 20 psi. O.o He turned his turbo into a huge blow dryer. This whole thread makes me dizzy. 20 psi on an allegedly ported wastegate stock s5 turbo makes me cringe. I feel as though he has been either taken advantage of, or has been getting some VERY bad advice from piston friends. :P

i know that most people preach not to take their 7 to a mazda shop but i brought my 93 to the dealership in yakima after picking the mechanics brain for a few weeks to make sure he knew what he was doing. his name is ***** and he is a smart dude. he is 23 and has been a certified rotary mechanic since he was 17. when i got my car it had a engine fire and i ended up geting a remain. the shop took well care of me and he did a great job. he has owned 7's in the past and is an avid tunner. also a big plus is that he loves the cars and most of all loves to work on them. before i took my car to him i checked on his rep and was told nothing but good thins. that is just my experience

I think I even called Natural smooth and was like, I spotted a 3rd gen! haha

do you think that a woman that works in the parts department would actually know what third gen means. she looks at a computer all day. now say that to a mechanic and i think you would get a different answer. i hope... i know ***** did. anyway, im happy with the job he did, its clean and due to the engine fire he had a mess to go through. the car runs great.
