I think I give that impression on the forum because I've gotten progressively more bitter over the time. I do think I know a great deal about these cars (particularly second generations) and when I know a lot about something, I'll be arrogant based on company at times. Oh well!

I'm just curious, if I find a car for sale that is long distance, I want to know what to expect for transport costs.

There were several options to pick from when shipping.
Open container or closed container. I selected an open one because it was less expensive.
Then there was the "how fast do you want it" factor. Standby was the cheapest; basicly when ever there was room on a truck. This could take a month or two.
The next level up was 5-10 days. That's what I selected. I found out later that this means it may take 5-10 days to get here AFTER it is pickedup.
Then there is 1-8 days.
And finally "expedited" which is the fastest and most expensive.
Prices started for the 5-10 day one I selected at $970. And we all know about the extra $325 I eventually paid.
In all fairness, I was offered an enclosed container for an extra $300 on the day after I placed my order, but I out smarted myself on that one and declined.
I'm still mystified about the extra $200 for the "special equipment" needed to off-load the "lowered" car. That would be the two wooden 2x4's.
Oh well, live and learn.

Does it matter where the car is coming from as far as mileage then? Where was your car coming from, or how many miles was it?

Just tell them that the 200.00 fee paid for two lengths of 2x6's and see what they say. The thing is, the trucker knows he pretty much has you over a barrel so they try to f@ck ya.

It came from Florida.
I paid about two grand last September to have a '29 Ford Panel Delivery shipped from Mass. in an enclosed container. I did not go through a broker that time, I delt directly with the shipping company.

The B&M shifter really jerks the ole noggen back when it grabs second and third. Spun the tires going from first to second gear.
The tach isn't calibrated for the V8, so the rev-limiter was screaming at me a lot. It's an easy fix to recalibrate the tach, but it has to be pulled from the dash.
Kinda freaky not having a speedo. A couple of times the cops did a head spin but no ticky (yet).
The power steering rack really sucks without a power steering pump. Any one out there have a manual steering rack they can point me too?
I stopped at KFC and got dinner. Flipped the fuel cut off switch off while waiting in the drive thru. I forgot to switch it back on and got about two blocks when it ran out of fuel and I also forgot that I had shut it off. I thought "OH SHUT!" out of gas; coasted into a parking lot ready to figure out how to get a can of gas, etc...Then the light bulb went on in my head. dah, flip the fuel cut off switch ON, you moron. Switch on, car run.
Never ending fun.
