88 GXL with Chevy V8

88 Mazda RX7 GXL with a 305 Chevy V8.

All the mounts and the driveshaft were made in house at V.C. Racing in Huntington, WV.

The engine is solid mounted with 1/4" thick steel flat plate.

It has the factory automatic shifter intact along with the automatic rear-end (final drive is 3.91).

It has a turbo 350 automatic tranny with a B&M shift kit (stage two).

The engine has an aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Edelbrock Polished 750 4 bbl. carb being fed by an electric fuel pump and pressure regulator.

The headers are Flowtech Medium length made for a blazer but, worked well with my application.

It also has custom 3.25" dual exhaust breathing through two Tsunami Stainless Steel mufflers angle mounted in the rear for that "still and import" look.

It also has a 2-core aluminum race radiator w/electric fan and an external tranny cooler.

The car is a GXL model, it does have power windows and locks.

It is also a 4-seater.

The Gray interior is in good shape as well.

Kouki Taillights (very rare).

Orignial owner had over $7000 invested not including labor.

138000 Miles on chassis

Sunroof, Cassette Player

It's being shipped here from Florida.

See you at the Woodburn drags.

Drag strip is in Woodburn, Oregon is about 20 min north of Salem and about 40 south of Portland.

I've "got it" in the sense that I've paid for it and have arranged for a shipper to transport it. It is coming from Florida.

What's rare about the taillights? They look like normal S5 ones to me.

Cool!

April 23 (Saturday) and May 8 (Sunday) at Woodburn are the Import and Sport Compact Challange.

Get there early and grab a good spot. Be sure to point the picture window at the action.

Steve, my RX4 has a broken oil cooler bracket. If that gets fixed, you can drive that one down ther quarter mile, if you want. Shoot, Sara could even give it a launch if she wanted to.

Maybe the V8 will be here by then.

There's a bit more than that to do...

Thanks very much for assisting me with the TII rear end install... I should be completely done with the cobra's modifications for the time being... gotta do some datalogging.

Speaking of datalogging, go check out my thread I just started if you are interested in playing crash test dummy...

As far as the RX-7 goes, my list groweth. I need some suggestions on suspension... the last thing to do is springs/shocks since I need the weight of the car first. Other than that, do y'all do ladder bars, subframe connectors, etc. to these cars? I have noticed that they are pretty stiff... with the cage it should be
VERY stiff. I finally bought a dye grinder, so I will be hacking pieces off. Fun stuff.

Congratulations on the new car. Should be fun... where are you located? If in Spokane, definately go get a dyno at Shelley's... Brian out there is a magician with carbs. Should get it running good... then add some juice

Steve,

Check the FS/WTB thread. I pretty much explained my Saturday and the hot-start mamma.

I'm going to put a fuel cutoff switch on the Black Beast and see if that cures the hot start problem. Remember when it cranked with the fuel pump disconnected and started up after it was hooked back up? Cut off switch may the the solution (hope ah hope ah hope).

Pistons in rotary vehicles is the biggest travesty ever in my opinion, and well, that car in general.

But if you like it dont worry about what I think.

Spoken by someone who likely has never driven a high powered V8 sports car...

That has nothing to do with it, it's just my opinion they don't belong in rx cars *shrugs*

I'm allowed to have my opinion, and I told him if he's happy then that's great and it doesn't matter what I think.

So you haven't driven a fast V8 powered sports car?

Actually it DOES have something to do with it. I think if you drove a well put together V8 RX you might change your mind. I know I did.
