88' FC Build. Daily&Drift

Herro NW Sevens!, I picked up an 88 SE about two weeks ago as a Daily&Drift.
Its been sitting in a field for some time before i got it, but surprisingly the only rust
i have found on my little adventure of restoring it is the frame from the brake leaking.
This is my first rotary build so bear with me.

My goal is to make a competitive NA Drift monster and to push the NA to new limits.
I'll be aiming for 210hp first; budget reasons. Then take it further. I'm going to try
and keep this car four lug for as long as i can and push as much as i can out of it. :]

Heres some pics.

EW. CAMO...

Tossing this motor...

The interior was pretty bad..ALOT of mold. Had to scrub and vacuum and scrub...
The dash was covered in so much sh**. I still need to take a rug doctor to it.
Clean on the left. Dirty on the right >:/

So for the past week i was unable to touch the car cause we had a nissan finishing a rebuild so the seven sat out front. BUT!
today i finally got to pull the seven into the driveway and tear into the bay! I didnt get alot done, but i got
enough done to where i could go to sleep satisfied lol.

"Oh, Herro : D"

I drained the coolant and pulled the radiator out...can you guess my tool of choice?
Good ole' Branch Cutter haha. I Could not get the rad. hoses off for no poon.

Most of my time was consumed of attempting to jack the car up on an incline (No common sense)
detaching the oil cooler lines from the block while in the process of snapping a few of these...
Ive never seen bolts rusted that bad before.

Had to soak this in deep penetrating oil for 30 min to get loose..

Stock Oil Cooler is Beast. ISnt it. yep i think so.

I still have to finish removing the oil cooler tomorro, label some vacuum lines and remove
the Power Steering.

Any help/comments/hate welcome. Willing to learn more from everyone.

My FC had some of the same symptoms. Sat in a field forever, rust where the brake MC leaked, and gross carpets. Looks good, but i really would suggest a 5lug conversion. Very cheap and easy to do. Plus wheel choices will be limitless with the 5x4.5 .

a trick for those hoses. move the hose clamp then use a big pair of pliers and grap it at the end and twist back and forth. almost alwayss works.

Haha. The camo made the old owner go faster
stock 6 port as in bridgeport/ streetport, ect, ill be doing a streetport.
I still havent figured everything out about the rotary so i'll add as i learn.

Weeelll i didnt get to do much today. I started going under the car to unscrew the
banjo bolt from the block to separate the oil cooler and stupid me, forgot to lift the
car more...

but anywayy i also found out that the PO filled everything with water...
.....I had a mixture of **** fall onto my face when i unbolted it.

I swear the picture was clearer on the camera....I dont know how well you guys
can make out the black poop pouring out the hose into the bottle...

after i did that the higher ups decided to **** on my joy by raining.

heres two off semi non related pictures.
tried to be artsy to make reading and looking more enjoyable haha.
this is how bad my brake booster is...

her new heart.

I just got home so im tired. ill see you guys later.

Any help/comments/hate welcome.

210 to the wheels would be a lot easier to get with a turbo.. just saying..
You speak of being on a budget but to get to that much NA youre gonna be spending a fair amount, T2 swap would be easier and more fun IMO

yeah i know. but turbo is already like 200. This isnt something i plan on finishing fast.

I just wanna do something different is all. That and i always preferred NA. I'll entually go turbo.
I want to learn more on something that wont cost me as much to fix as say the turbo motor since those parts in higher demand than NA. Atleast thats the way i figure it.

BIG QUESTION thats been lurking my mind for awhile. the turbo hood on an NA would help supply cooling from above..correct? but since it was made to feed the TMIC, would it benefit much to use that to aid in keeping the engine cool?

It wouldn't really flow enough air for engine cooling, I was thinking of making some ducting for ITB's but was informed that the scoop wasn't good enough.with the hood being alumininum it despenses heat better than the NA hood.

i see. So in general the tii hood isnt a big help?
i was thinking of cutting into it a little more to see if maybe that would add airflow better

hey guys, Small update. I didnt get many pics but ill post some up soon.

Because the weathers been really stupid, i only got so much work done.
I did however...

remove heater hoses and all other lines attached to the block
removed throttle cable
removed subzero start cable (Thinking about removing that completely) Is there any other use for that stuff?
Unbolted the exhaust
killed a family of spiders
about to buy new hoses and gonna clean up some rust.

AND. yea. that power steering bracket and pump arent workin with me. i got 3 of the 4 bolts out..the other is horridly stripped..so any suggestions are welcomed.

so, as for the subzero thing. can i delete that or use it for something else? I dont ever see it getting 20 below here.
also

The subzero system is trash - kill it. Though you might keep the reservoir, I think those can be useful for other things.

Bolt out sockets at Sears.. like $20?

Nawww man, don't cut into the hood. Especially a T2 hood..
Engine bay cooling shouldn't be necessary, just build a cold air intake box, and make sure that the stock clutch fan and radiator shroud are in place [unless you plan on going aftermarket, then you'd have to work something out for those]

Good job on killing the spiders btw
