No, 5th gear is shorter in an S5 TII transmission (0.719 vs 0.697) https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...12&postcount=6.

But that's really not the issue. Your NA engine doesn't have enough power to top out 5th gear. 8000 RPM with a 0.697 5th gear is over 200 mph. http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/tyres.html

what about limited slip differential, would that increase top speed? my 91 coupe didn't come with it and in a thread someone said gear ratios and differentials help top speed :/

Limited slip has nothing to do with gearing, but the ring/pinion ratio does.

You have a 4.1 open diff. A 3.9 rear end found in automatics and some S4 manual models would technically increase maximum top speed, but you would never ever hit it. Top speed is meaningless unless you're on the salt flats, and your NA can't go 200+ mph.

A 4.3 LSD from the rare GTUs model would given slightly better acceleration; however it would mean extra shifting on the street due to shortening all the gears.

wouldn't worry about top speed considering the N/A will struggle right around 90-100....hell I had a trip to LA and floored it from norcal to socal...I gave up...needle had a hard time reaching the 140 magic mark for me...hung around 128......and it took its sweet time to get there too..
