Whats the best stand alone
I am in the process of buying a stand alone engine management system, and my research has lead me to two, either the microtech or apexi fc. What is everyone else running. Does anyone know of any pros or cons to either system?

There is no best standalone. All of them have their own characteristics, both positive and negative. The best advice is to go with whatever system your tuner is most familiar with.

For FDs the PFC is very popular and gets excellent tuning support. There are definitely more elaborate systems out there, but the PFC arguably is the easiest to get going.
I agree with the others, find the experienced rotary tuner first and follow their recommendation. If you can't find a rotary tuner, keep looking. You don't want a piston-engine tuner learning to tune a rotary on your car.

Why do you need a stand alone at this point? I was at almost 500 hp on any of the cars I have built prior to using a stand alone. Will this be a track car only? Are you able to get the car retuned for multiple air temp/weather environments?
These are all things to consider before going to a full stand alone fuel management.
To answer your original question I have used both the AEM and Power FC. Both are capable and amazing. I prefer the AEM however because I am comfortable with it.

500HP on any EFI rotary without a standalone is a risky thing to do. Yeah, it can be done but by the time you invest in all the piggyback hardware necessary to make it work, you're past the point of a good standalone.
