What did you guys use to clean your housings/endplates on a rebuild?

I'm just wondering what the best way to clean housings and endplates are. I already cleaned all the other engine parts with chemdip and i'm just afraid to use it on the housings and endplates because thats some serious chemicals and i'm just not sure if it will erode the chrome on the housings/endplates.

Is it safe to use chem dip on that? If not, what did you guys use to clean your housings/endplates during your rebuild process?

Solvents and chemicals won't hurt the irons or rotor housings at all. I would not use it on the rotors or bearings, it can damage the coatings on those. I've heard of people soaking the parts in a tupperware tub of degreaser or solvent (mineral spirits etc.) then while still wet, pressure washing them to blow off the loose/wet particles, then blow dry with compressed air. It would probably be pretty hard to get all the water/solvent/whatever out of the internal passages without compressed air, and if you leave the parts to air dry with water on them you'll get surface rust. By using compressed air you can remove the water fast enough to prevent any surface rust issues, then just wipe the parts down and you'd be good.
