BC weight reduction (i searched for it first!)

OK so I'm new to this site but there has to be a section somewhere about weight reduction am i right? I'm changing engines and am trying to map out my options to gain back some of my balance (carbon fiber/fiberglass panels, weight reduction tips that sort of thing) thanks for your time and if there is not one i'll start putting one together as my build progresses, thanks.

id say, do some running etc and lose some weight (no offense) so you dont have to totally gut your interior. lol i lost 20lbs doing workouts etc , so now i can keep most of my interior and now my car wont look like a beat down shitbox on the inside.

like honestly it would be better keeping your interior and just using carbon body panels and plexi rear hatch( 20 inch wheels are a no no ). also i would try to source out a nice set of lightweight rims, to keep unsprung weight to a minimum.

i realize the one jay zee weighs a lot more and FC interior weighs more than 20 pounds I'm thinking CF hoods fiberglass fenders/bumper headlight motors you know that sort of stuff.. how much does all of the tar weigh from the interior what does a leather 2+2 interior weigh sunroof motors thats sort of stuff...

Looks like a long-block 1jz engine and transmission is about 700 lbs. IIRC a 13b NA long-block with transmission is about 400...roughly a 300 lb difference. And by design the wieght of the 1jz will sit much higher as well. Your going to have to loose quite a bit to get some balance back. Cost aside, replacing the sheet metal, HL motors and bumper reinforcement won't do it.
I assume this will be a track-only car.

I don't have FC weights, these are from an FD. Most everything in an FD was lightened from the FC but it still might give you some idea....

Rear bins = 10 lbs.
Divider and plastics aft of the divider = 9 lbs
Both driver's door panels = 10 lbs.
Both door speakers and enclosures = 8 lbs.
Visors = 1.25 lbs. each (2.5 total)
Tar in the bin area = 2 lbs.
Tar passenger and driver's floor area and tunnel = 6 lbs.

i removed every piece of tar from my 79 and kept it all in a 5 gallon bucket. It probably weighs between 15-25 pounds roughly. Lots of work for that too. Dry ice helps though.

I'm assuming this will be some sort of track-only car.

Removing all the unnecessary crap will get a lot of weight out (unnecessary for track cars).

I had an S14 that I dropped 300lbs off of (including adding the cage!) just from removing stuff that was unnecessary comforts of a street car.
