Transmission Power Handling

Hey I'm trying to get a hold of my friends 87 RX-7 already know what I'm gonna do to the engine, suspension, body etc. but my question is does anyone know what the power handling of the stock transmission gears can take? I'm shooting for about 330 HP do I have to change out my gearing due to strength issues I might for gear ratios anyways but if I don't have to then I probably won't.

i take it you're going to turbocharge an N/A car then ...

yes, there are different transmissions between the N/A and Turbo II (T2 or TII)

Type M transmissions = N/A
Type R transmissions = Turbo II

the T2 transmissions can handle much higher torque levels on a regular basis.
