taking out Fd Engine, stuck on Trans...help!

I just bought an fd and I am taking the engine out right now. I first tried to take it out without the transmission, without reading about how you have to disengage the clutch first. Well now I am stuck, I rebolted the transmission to the engine. I need help on what to do to get them apart. Any help would be appreciated.

The FD has a pull type clutch which means that the throwout bearing is held on to the clutch pressure plate. There is a well documented procedure for removing the right side inspection cover from the bellhousing and releasing the throwout bearing from the pressure plate. It should be in the archives. I have seen a video somewhere, if it isn't on this site, it is on You Tube.

On the bottom of the bellhousing is an inspection plate with two 10mm bolts. Remove it. Then remove the starter and slave cylinder (you do NOT have to disconnect the hydraulic line).
Now you have two places to access the clutch. View this video
and when you understand how it works, use those two places to disconnect it.
If after doing this you still can't get it disconnected, just unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel. The transmission can then be separated.

That is an excellent video, it would have saved me a massive headache first time I split my engine/trans!

Yep, I watched it before I pulled my trans, the video makes it really clear how simple it is.
