Street Port and/ or Brigdeport
Hey everyone! im new to the rotary game, and I know what street and bridge port are but how do you get that done ? who do you go see for porting a rotary and is it a big job ? how much does it cost ?

it's not that cheap unless you do it yourself or have the engine out of the car already. Your paying for someone to remove the engine complete pull apart clean, port put back together and re-install into the car.
i recently got a quote for about 3 grand for a bridge port.

love the video, how many hours would it take to do a street port? would it be safe to do it with stock twins? i read that in another forum its not, but i plan on getting it tuned after my rebuild

Since you have an FD, anything that increases airflow through the engine basically means an EMS upgrade. So yes, stock twins are fine for street ports but you you will need to address fuel.
Porting doesn't effect temperature. Cooling channels are typically only ported/finned in high HP applications to keep heat from building up around the restrictive spark plug area.

The actual peripheral porting is fairly easy. Drill hole through rotor housings at appropriate spot, press in sleeve, secure sleeve (tack weld to outside of housing, epoxy around the water jacket). It's the other stuff that complicates it like building a custom intake manifold, and the fact that you need a wide open exhaust to take advantage of the ports. The word "loud" doesn't begin to describe a peripheral port engine set up to make power.

I had a header only on one of my fc's just to get it home. And I couldn't hear anything for a little bit after getting out. And I cranked my rx8 in the shop with only a header on. It was ungodly loud

bridgeport are a hell of an upgrade when u want more power but more for a track car, if u plan on daily driving i would go with a mild or a large streetport. for the most part, the ppl i know with bridgeported rotaries dont daily drive it, street ports are the way to go for daily drivers..great amount of power with the right setup and more reliable than the bridgeport, well it depends on the driver lol
