Should I buy this Rx-7?
Alright well I've been look to buy a Rx-7 for awhile till I came across this but
I don't know if I should buy it, here is all the info from the guy who is selling the FD (word for word) he is selling it for $8500.00 CAD,
he also said he could bring the price down to 8k but he is taking off the wheels
and I would have some way to roll it.
Please let me know if I should buy this FD.
Thanks.

I am selling off my baby. The engine has blown on this, the rear rotor blew an apex seal. I have had quotes to fix the motor for about 3 grand and up depending how crazy you want to go. Not sure why it went, but i guess it was just that motors time. Here are the specs as follows
93 FDS3 RX7 Twin Turbo Type R - fully inspected and legal in bc (compliant with all laws)
Black in Colour, with black leather/ suede interior
19" Volk TE37 Rims (staggered)
Mazdaspeed Exhaust
R-Magic Shift ****
RE-amemiya Short Shifter
Defi Control Link II
Defi Blackface Boost Gauge
Import grade was a 4.0 exterior and 4.0 for interior. There is one dent about 1 foot long that came with the car, but its nothing that big that someone can't fix
I would love to fix this car, but I just purchased a new car, and i don't see myself fixing this anytime soon. It has been sitting for about a year now, in a garage, on block and prepped.
If you are looking at importing a car of this rating, currently it would run you about 14,000, as well as another $1000 for compliance and VIN numbers. That is not even including the Volk rims either. I am taking a huge loss on this, but i just don't see myself fixing it anytime soon, so i might as well cut my losses as much as it pains me to loose this car.
All that would be needed to put this on the road is new motor, and air care. All said and done.
Will include all paperwork that shows importing, etc.

i think that really depends on preference.
i'm not too knowledgeable on the subject but i know bigger rims mean smaller tires and smaller tires mean they will stay more centered on your rims.
but you can always just get low profile tires, width between end of rim to ground.
smaller width, less roll.
but again preference.
some people like their huge 22" rims, some like stock size.
i usually like an inch or two more than stock.
so go with the size you think will look good.
thats my input for the day.

I found a 92 FD a roller for about $8000.00 with tax and shipping included but its a automatic,
what I want is manual transmission, since I'm doing a Ls1 swap wouldn't I have to change
the transmission and when I do this can I convert it to manual transmission?

i wouldn't buy it for 8500... i got my rolling shell wide body kit for 3500. uhm... for legality, unless you intend on rebuilding the rotary all the legal stuff goes down the tube when u swap a new engine in.
also, the rims are nice rims, but it all depends on what you want, if you want performance in track/autocross i'd see if the guy still has the stock wheels because those things are crazy light weight.
As well, the whole concept of importing a car from japan, the guy is correct, its freaking expensive and he probably is losing a lot of money on it. I just don't think the end justifies the means. you could get a LHD rx-7 shell, go get a RHD front clip with engine, get a body shop to do the work (mine did it for 3500) and be in the same position as having a RHD imported from japan for a ton less. so other than the fact of telling everyone that its from Japan, it doesn't matter...
well thats my two-cents on the matter
