I had a clean stock 88 GXL that I was going to build to be a track car. A few months ago I got t-boned at a 4 way intersection. 95% of the damage was just to the door but a part of the frame behind the door got hit too. Nothing else was damaged other than those two things. I had the car sent to LA and had the frame bent back on a frame bending machine, as well as all the damage fixed, door replaced and repainted and no one would be able to tell it had been in an accident. I have driven the car quite a bit since I got it back and it drives straight just like it did before when driving normally, but haven't started building it up since the accident. Basically I am just asking for opinions on whether or not it is a SAFE idea to build the FC I have, or should I get another one. I am NOT worried about the investment of money because I already have an idea of what it would cost to build an FC. I just want to know if the car will perform the same and be safe enough for the track. Or should I keep this stock and get another FC and build it instead?
i think if you were planning to turn the car into a race car, then you should continue on that path. if it has been repaired as you have described, then go for it. i would imagine that a race car will need reinforcing in order to be competitive, so if deficits are revealed in competition, then you can address them then.
by the way, what type of racing are you planning to do?
