there is actually a Tag at the filler plug that says "Lsd type fluid only" on the Lsd diff.
rotate one wheel the other one goes in the same direction.

this info is in the FAQ thread at the top of the New Tech section.
By the way the tag is aluminum, and is used as a crush washer to seal the filler plug.

If you swap to a TII trans, then you need all the other stuff to make it work as it is just not a simple swap over.
To correctly do it you need all the components from the back of the engine to the Rear of the car.
From Flywheel to diff.
Many threads on that.
Some guys also are utilizing parts from both setups..like N/A Trans to TII diff..etc.
So if you go that route we will let you get your fingers tappin, looking for the threads that are available on that subject.
Good luck to ya.

You would get quicker and more accurate answers if you would state which car you have. Your profile only has "fc3s rx7", which helps, but it does not state whether the car has a turbo or non-turbo drivetrain.

Well, I can't help you there because every turbo RX-7 came from the factory with a LSD. The open diff was only on the non-turbo cars. Therefore, either you have a weird NZ turbo model with an open diff, your car had a non-turbo diff swapped into it by a previous owner, or you have the original LSD with worn clutches that make it appear to be an open diff when you spin the wheels.

every turbo2 did not come with a LSD diff.. only US version ones did .. in oz and NZ and many other places you had to specify
same with the NA vehicles.. in the aus market the NA diff is also open unless specified .. or unless originally an auto
( check the sales spec sheets in aus if you like... auto NA is the ONLY aus market car that comes with factory spec LSD without needing to tick a box )

Any synthetic* gear oil with LSD friction modifiers. Sometimes the friction modifiers are already in the bottle, and sometimes you need to add them. Professional racers like to add them so that they can adjust the LSD lock-up by proportioning the additive as desired.
* Synthetic means Group IV (PAO) and/or Group V (Ester) base stock. Group III (hydrocracked) base stock is not real synthetic oil.

You can accomplish that by using oil without the friction modifier, such as Red Line 75W90NS. If the chatter bothers you, then you can add a little bit of friction modifier until the chatter disappears.

I think Royal purple also has a LSD additive that you can get to add with the Gear oil..real small bottle of the stuff.
If you add it to your Diff it helps a lot.
