Well, since I'm still running Kumho Ecsta 7-11's, I guess I'm out of this hunt......I used to run Dunlop SP-9000's, too hard, then Bridgestone Pole Position S0-3's, which I loved but now they're out of production. I ran into the 7-11's when Tire Rack had a fire sale to dump their 15" tires ( I've got a 1stgen with 15" Weds Autobahn rims...) and I'm almost through my "collection" of these discontinued tires.

I'm currently using some Falken 452s, and they're holding up nicely. 10,000 miles on them, and hardly any wear. They've defintely got more grip than my old Toyo Proxes ever did as well.
www.tirerack.com has a lot of great reviews on various tires, as well as some performance ratings based on tests. I did some research there before I bought my last set of tires, and it helped a lot.

Was looking at Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03, but not sure if that would be the best as most reviews say it is only a summer tyre, and not too good around freezing.
they also had a new F1 Asymmetic out, cleaned up all review, but dont have it in my size.
Else leaves me with maybe Toyo Proxes T1-R.
Havn't teally looked at Falkin, will do that.
Kumos just have no grip and tend to wander and track in every pothole and groove.

Khumos FTL !!!
Take a look at these tire pics I took off my brother's (my old) '96 MX-6. These tires are about 10 months old. My brother rides his R6 half the time, so the MX-6 isn't even his full-time ride. The first pic shows even tire wear indicating proper alignment settings. Right now my brother's still negotiating with Tire Rack on getting warranty replacements for those crappy Ecstas. My brother does a lot of freeway driving to work. If these blew at 65 mph on the freeway, or injured my brother, you would have seen juicyjosh on the news.... I've NEVER seen anything like this before...
The Kumhos didn't even grip as well as the Paradas.
I recommended keeping with the Yokohama Parada Spec-2 tires I used to buy. But my bro was complaining they would only last a year-and-a-half. I still think the Paradas are the best tires for that car. Good grip, good wear and not expensive.
I'm running 235 and 265 Advan AD07 Neovas on my FD. I've had them for a year, and I can go for another year-and-a-half based on how LITTLE they've actually worn. They're very predictable tires that break traction gradually, and NO they're not loud tires, as some people suggest. My hard-earned cash will continue to go to Yokohama for making great tires.

Are you looking at summer tyres? How much do you want rain vs. dry performance? What will you be doing with the car?
I'm using Bridgestone RE-01Rs now, have used Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s in the past. Both are outstanding summer tires that can handle some track abuse and street driving and maintain great levels of grip. The Goodyear was better in rain.

I understand the OPs disappointment with those tires, but without knowing whether the cause was a faulty tire or a mechanical problem with the car, it's impossible to determine the specific cause of the failure. Maybe it was simply the tire--maybe it wasn't.

That one corded tire looks like something was rubbing on the shoulder. Since it's on the inside edge, could it have been rubbing only in bump or when leaning in a turn?
Even wear across the width of the tire suggest good camber and inflation pressure settings, but the toe could still be out and causing the short wear life.
I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about the Kumhos, there are plenty of good tires out there that other people opinions should not push a person to use a tire they don't absolutely trust. It's just that my experience with Kumhos has been good and there are other possible root causes that should be considered.

The brand of tire is worthless without knowing the actual model. Some Bridgestone Potenza's are sweet, some Bridgestone Potenzas are the worst tire ever made....the only difference is the model.
So blanket statements about tire companies are pretty useless.

bseries_ben , about how long do those BFGoodrich gforce kdw's last on the street?
And "Falkens"?? Sorry, but that post is history...it's already been pointed out above that simply saying a brand name tire is not enough...this thread needs specific info and first person experiences...

both sets i've had have lasted me 20k+ miles. i drive my car hard though so that seems ok to me. i've been going through a set of tires every year on my cars for about the last 4 years. they're great in the summer, really sticky and perform well in the rain, well enough to keep me happy anyways.

I'm using Toyo Proxes on my 7 and they're lasting quite well, and that car is driven hard/drifted (front tires considered).
The Kumho Ecsta ASTs I bought three months ago for my DD (Volvo 850 Turbo) have gone 8 thousand miles and showing cords on the inside. Absolute crap, and they had the highest TWI of the tires available (400). Will definately pass on them next time.

+1, that wear looks exactly like my buddies when his was rubbing.

Against my advice my bro decides to try the Kumhos, and look what we get. Compared to the Paradas, they had markedly poorer dry *and* wet grip, not to mention more tire flex, WITH poorer wear, plus the tire coming apart in different places in less than a year?!?! The Paradas wore evenly until pretty much all the tread was gone, but that took a year-and-a-half.
One of the pics I posted actually has the make and model on the sidewall, so... what are you talking about? Even if it didn't show the model, you can tell which model by the tread pattern. Did you even look at the pictures of the tires or read the information regarding the pictures before issuing your reply?
And *you're* talking about "useless" posts? Seriously dude. Sit down.

But why should you take our word for it? Ignore our experiences.
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 and Advan Neova are great tires for sports cars, but they're not for everyone.
faberio, you should buy Kumho Ecstas.

Not everybody actually reads about tires before they buy and not everyone is a tire expert. As evidenced by
Thirdly...STFU I wasn't even talking about you. I was making a reference to the OP who said.
