I was driving my 88 vert every day until her brain died. I can not find an ECU for it. Seems to be a rare part.

for you guys with FDs how did you pay for it?

Did you pay cash, loan, and how much was it?

I had a dream about owning a white fd the other night, and that has relit my ambitions to get one; however, the thing is it's going to take forever to get $10k+

I was also wondering would it be too much work to buy a good roller and just replace the engine? I know it would probably cost around the same, but with this i could get it in parts (literally).

An FC can be an awesome daily driver depending on the condition of the car. If the basic maintainence was done when it was supposed to the cars entire life up the point when you bought it and there were no accidents and it was stored and driven properly or even it has a fresh rebuilt engine then yeah it would be great to driveu year round if you keep up with it. If you have a car with blown coolant seals and rig the engine to run by pouring blue devil or other sealants into it or if the engine seems to flood a lot and you have to keep pulling the EGI and plugs to deflood it then NO it would be a terrible daily driver. I gave the negative ones as an example because those problems are exactly what happened with me with my first Rx-7 GXL after I blew the coolant seals. I should have never traded it and Turbo2 swapped it but its alittle too late now but I do miss the GXL Hopefully the base model will treat me good lol

I cannot afford to drive my FD around everyday, but I would love too....
Plus I dont really want to put tons of mileage on it everyday....

I only get 120 mpg on the top half of my TT FD's tanks....

i bought mine knowing its not going to be a daily driver. i jsut dont want to put miles on it honestly. these cars are those cars that you get to treat your self with. no one sees them at all. i live in missouri and there are only 3 others withinh 100 miles of me

I daily my FC turbo. However, I'm in school, and it's cool if the car needs to be down for some maintenance.

When I graduate and get a real job i'll probably end up getting something more economical, but i don't have any trust issues with the 7 at the moment.

Every day

I just sold the car the other day, but I used to drive my FC every day. pros: awesome power whenever i needed it (or maybe not so much need, more just wanted to go a little faster than i should :P)
cons: i actually had no problems with it. I've heard lots of people say rotaries aren't daily driver engines, but mine did just fine, i loved it. liked it so much i bought another one!
This being said, i did only drive it like this for about a year on a pretty new engine, so i cant say how it would be putting higher miles on it.

I just realized I get pretty terrible mileage on my 86 N/A. Around 14 mpg running 93 octane and 10W30. Drive at around 2700RPM's though.

I have an 87 N/A RX-7 GXL as my daily driver. I bought it over a year and a half ago with 160,000 kms (or about 100,000 miles) on it, and now there is about 175,000 kms on it and it is still running great. I do not drive it in the winter because the body and underneath the car are rust free and I want it to stay that way. The only things I'v had to replace are a rear pinion seal and a rad... and of course tires lol, I keep the oil changed every 3000 and make sure to check everything to make sure it's all good. I have no complaints about it besides the fact that its stock (for now) and it's not enough power for me anymore. My FC is a pleasure to drive every day, and if you are thinking about getting one for your daily driver I would recommend that you make sure the past owner(s) have looked after it very well and kept it maintained like mine was.
