NY Rotary Mechanic in NY?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good rotary mechanic or shop in the Long Island, NY area? They seem to be few and far between here! Just picked up an '85 GSL-SE and would like to be prepared!

You might want to try JPR in South Jersey. He has done a ton of work and has built many high hp cars. He is also highly recommended by forum members. Check out jprimports.com for contact information.

I wish he was a little closer too, but good rotary mechanics are few and far between.

IR Performance in NJ. They are a great guys and know what they're doing. They're located in Metuchen, NJ which is only an hour away from me and I live right outside the city. PM GoodfellaFD3S or Rotary Performance Seven on the forum for more info.

Cool

Distance will be the deciding factor. There is no urgent need at the moment. Still waiting for any recommendations for the Long Island area. I'm out in Bethpage. I'll definitely share my thoughts with the masses!

I would recommend that you do a forum search on any prospective mechanic that is recommended to you.

In the past, there have been horror stories with certain mechanics.

I personally go to KDR in PA, 3 hours drive.

yeah i just started to go to JPR...its 1hr 40min from the bronx..
but the service is great...unlike other shops in NY, that have u waiting for hours.... + Jim is cool as hell....

My car is actually there now....lol

Word to the wise... u can tell a shop by its customers and owner's cars...So when i saw a 700hp street-able Rx7 i knew where i had to take my car.
JPR has been worth the drive so far. I recommend them

When i bought my car the oil gauge was completely dead. I got a entirely different cluster and hooked it up. Now i have a working gauge, but now i have worries. When i start up and idle im getting around 30 which ive determined to be acceptable. After driving once the engine warms up im getting about 15 at idle. At 4000rpm it will reach up to about 40. The past couple of days ive noticed it dropping below 0 at idle very scaryyyyy. The oil level is full and i havent noticed any leaks. yesterday i cleaned the contact points on the sending unit. Thats when i started getting the lower readings down past 0. perhaps the sender is bad im going to steal one off my cousins parts car and try that. But in the mean time im still trying to diagnose the problem. Im at a loss right now. All motor operation seams fine but im new to rotaries so i guess they could be aweful and i wouldnt know.

Nelson behind enricks buy and sell has had his hands all over rotarys for years and worked wonders on my friends 2 gen rx7s in the past with the most funky of problems if he still works there.
