Talking Receiver Drier

Receiver Drier
After looking through the site trying to find this information and not having success, I thought I’d pass this along.
I’m repairing the long dead A/C system in my 88 project car. I managed to pick up a rebuilt compressor on E-Bay for an astounding $22. Then I went searching for a receiver/drier, thinking that would be easy. I’m told that Mazda had the dealers install these systems to save import fees so things could be a mix. I went to Auto Zone and Advance Auto with no joy. I walked into my only other choice here in the Low Country, Car Quest and they had one in stock!! Of course it wasn’t right. The threads were the wrong size and all the parts computer lookups were wrong. Great! They ordered in three different ones for me. Amazing since it’s only an $18 part. Two were the same wrong thread size but this one was a perfect fit. Even had the right bracket attached.
The part is from Compressor Works, part no CTC 208657. One other number on the box is 708100.
Hope this helps.

Now I am worried, I just ordered the four seasons one from rock auto for my 87, they didn't list any alternate fitments so I just assumed it would be right.

The correct part (for me) was listed as the part for an 87 TII. Mine is an 88 NA but that part listing was perfect. The listing for the 88 NA was the wrong part.

Got mine home and tried to fit it last night, it doesn't fit
The openings for the tubes are just too small. The flares appear to be the right size, the threads appear to be right but the tubes just don't go in. Sucks because I bought it from Rock Auto and had it shipped to Montana, then drove down to pick it (and a ton of other stuff) up. It isn't worth the money to ship it back from here.

I guess the first clue should have been that it had no bracket. Oh well, I guess I'll try to source one locally, or just break the rules and re-use my old one.

The incorrect part (for me) was a Four Seasons 33403 (in case that helps somebody else).

*EDIT*

I should say THANKS to the op for listing the correct model fitment. I re-checked Rock Auto, and for the 87 TII they list Four Seasons 33487, which in the picture even includes the bracket. I am sure that is the right part. I will call them up and suggest they change the listing for the 87 N/A, because it is wrong.

Yep, That's the same problem I had. I was shocked to see the right part actually had the bracket on it too. It was too much to expect. I installed my new compressor and dryer and evacuated the system to -30 pounds. It's held that now for 4 days so I feel good about it. I'm waiting now for a new R12 can hose. I still have 4 cans of 20 year old R12, but I've lost the hose adepter. Funny it's about the same price as 20 year old scotch now. By the way, you need to add about 30 ounces or half a cup of R12 mineral oil to the "out" side of the dryer. You can get it at NAPA.

30 ounces of oil?! I was told our system held 6 total. That sounds like a bit much

I just talked to rock auto, they said they would contact the manufacturer to verify whether the 33403 should even be listed for an RX-7, and they refunded me the cost of it as well. Unfortunately, I don't really want to wait 2 1/2 weeks to get another one shipped here, or pay $27 in shipping on top of a $13 part when local ones are only $41 in the first place so I'll be buying the replacement locally. Such a shame because if they listed it right I'd have saved some time and money on it. Hopefully they update their catalog and nobody else has this problem in the future.
