OR rear defroster

Hey, so my 87 turbo 2's rear defroster lights up on the control panel but it does not defrost. I looked on the rear hatch to see if the defroster lines had been cut and they have not been. Any ideas on how to get the rear window to defrost?

Check the interior fuse as well as the wiring connections to the defroster lines. The solder connections break off pretty easily.

Defroster uses three fuses. The 30 amp Defroster fuse (top right of fusebox), 15 amp Turn fuse and the 10 amp Steering fuse.

Thank you very much for this info. I'll find out tomorrow if its the fuses or something else.

use a tester light or multimeter to see if the defrosters are getting power.

Update, I finally was able to check this problem and found that i do not have a steering fuse because the power steering was removed. Would adding a steering fuse cause any electrical issues because i do not have power steering? Thanks

The Power Steering fuse serves more than just the steering so if you want the Defroster to work then you need it. As long as the wire powered by the Steering fuse at the disconnected Power Steering unit is not grounding against anything then you'll be fine.
