A really need help with the heat shield for my 85 rx-7 12a

I need some help finding a source for an RX-7 hear sheild.

The heat shield that bolts to the underbody, up forward. It rusted out and before I put the exaust back in, I need to replace it. It is shaped like a 1/2 a mini keg and is made from sheet metal.

I also have to replace the skid plate - another sheet metal piece that protects the engine from the road.

Does anyone know where I can find these? Do they have to be custom made?

Thanks,
Tom

Pull the old parts, it's not too hard to hammer out new shapes that are a lot prettier...run down Midwest7's and see what he's got...

Midwest7's ? Is that a potential source for the parts?

I have a local sheet metal fabricator who said they might be able to duplicate the parts for me, but one is so far gone - I think too much would be up for interpretation.

I'm not too clear if he's a company, but he's a member here that focuses on parts for the FB...he's constantly trolling the salvage yards and they apparently have a lot of good stuff in Kansas....

I'll drag him into this thread for you since you may not be able to PM at this point.

The skid plate is easily reproduced with sheet metal or aluminum. The other parts not so easy, but doable. Might try the salvage yard. I had two stolen lately by some scrap metal poachers. Along with a bunch of other stuff.

Thanks for your help, I will try the salvage yards and then the sheet metal fabricator.
