Question regarding performance
Hi.
I am currently looking at buying a new car which i intend to do up for show and race/ possibly drift.
I am stil unsure as to what car i will be getting but am looking at either a Supra or a RX-7. I am leaning towards a RX-7 due to the fact tht i like the look of them more with a good bodykit, and there are very few geting around opposed 2 Supras were i live.
My question is simple- do RX-7's have much potential in the way of performance? I waz very much turned off getting a RX-7 when i realised they were only a 2 cylinder car!. I wud like to do both performance and cosmetic work to the car but dont want 2 b wasting time with a car which simply doesnt go fast. I have finished doing up my Lancer, which waz purely cosmetic work, stock engine, and now its time 2 start a new project and this time i want my car 2 not only turn heads but 2 go fast. like real fast.
So simply can RX-7's be worked to be faster than say Supras? 5.7 / 6 litre V8's? Without spending many 10's of thousands. Say im aiming for 300kwats plus on the rear wheels.
I dont have alot of knowledge in this area but have the money to do up a car and also have contacts who are able 2 do mechanical work for me.
I realy appreciate any advice/help. Thanks.

Now generalizations aside, there are many cars that are designed from the ground up as performance cars (RX-7, Supra, Corvette) which make excellent platforms, then others which are economy cars (Civic, Starlet, Camry) which are a horrid starting point.
Secondly, and perhaps most important, the RX-7 is not a two cylinder car. Do not think in terms of piston engines. The engine is a two rotor Wankel which has a far higher HP per litre potential then a piston engine.
