CA Question about BHR Ignition System for my RX8

So the product can be seen here:

BHR Ignition System | Black Halo Racing

I was just wondering if this really IS a benifit over the traditional mazda stuff for my RX8, or wether I should keep replacing as I always do...or maybe you know a better option. Is it priced right? (seems like a fine price if it does as described same as a radiator or any reliability mod)

Please, any thoughts on this product or info on similar stuff (along the same subject) would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

PM ObliqueFD about it. His RX-8 was getting to be a pain in the butt to start and drive with the stock FE coils. At my insistence, he finally purchased the BHR kit instead of getting another set of RX8 coils, plugs and wires.

After the BHR kit was installed, it started in half the time, idled smoother and didn't fall on its face at redline anymore. The other item I recommend doing is replacing your battery terminals with Marine Battery Terminals. The stock ones are well, garbage, and lead to poor charging, difficult starting and all sorts of other maladies that can make an already-weak ignition system even weaker.

The D585 coils in the BHR kit are some of the best 'cheap' coils I know of. Most 20B owners use them and have excellent results, even at 600+hp. I got mine for $80 at a local junkyard, including the donor truck's coil brackets, all 8 coils & both subharnesses.

Overall, the only items in the BHR kit that are 'tailored' are the coil brackets (bolt-on in stock location), harness adapter (RX8 connectors on one end, Delphi coil connectors on the opposite and a ring terminal for the extra ground) and the plug wires (LS1 terminals on RX8-length wires). All can be made yourself if you're good with tools. But for the ease of a bolt-in swap, the BHR kit is a good investment. The only part I can mark off for is that they don't offer the kit-specific plug wires separate from the kit AFAIK. You can make them yourself with stuff from Jegs or Summit Racing, but it would be better if BHR offers them.

Wow, that was perfectly thorough and extremely helpful. I think this is perfect for the mentality I am trying to have with my rotary engine(s). I am currently reading and taking SO much in at once it can be hard to retain some times and I need to take a step back. But help from guys with your kind of experience is why I am here and it is so helpful to have someone better articulate and justify what I have an idea about.

I want to do the BHR setup. They also have a mid pipe that I wanted and I want to do a cat back.

Radiator done with e-fans,

I want to do an intake, no so much for power gain but heat...I am looking at how the AEM puts the filter outside the direct engine bay area, but I really want to emulate the Fujita Engineering RX8 when it comes to upgrading mine. I like how they have that metal shield/deflector plate above the radiator and below the intake to split and direct the air, getting rid of the black plastics and blocking of heat.

I was also wondering about having an ApexI turbo timer, for a non-turbo car such as the RX8 or a N/A FC. Stupid or good to let it cool off? I know the RX8 ECU can keep the fans going after you stop the car anyway, AND there is a trick to doing something similar on an FC sooo...

I just wanna take care of the Rotaries as best I can, make then reliable and have fun on the weekends with them, and slooowly increase power or more extreme moding as I LEARN all the basics and how to take care of them properly.
