Pulling my hair out!

New to forum, but feel like I have been hear forever, I've read so much. Don't get me wrong the forum is great with super knowledgeable people. But my question is, is it really possible to get my 85 GSL SE to run smooth? I feel like I have tried everything and I'm beginning to wonder if these engines really do run smooth. Starts great, after about a minute it starts to miss then after about five minutes it begins to run better. Changed plugs, wires, rotor, cap, air and gas filter, smog pump, starter(had to). Ran cleaner through it, Checked vacuum lines and on and on. To look at the car it looks like it came off the showroom floor, both interior and exterior, handles great and once your out driving it's peppy as hell. Thus why I'm pulling my hair out( What little I have) to get this thing to run as good as it looks. Car has 74,000 miles on it and had one owner besides me, who seemed to keep it very well maintained all the way around, including regular maintenance.Really want to keep it as original as possible, any thoughts besides throwing the engine out. Can you tell I'm loosing it. Anyone in the Columbus area that could take a look, that just doesn't work on super cars, that might care about an original car.Really don't want to go to a dealer.

an occasional miss at idle is normal on older engines, but if there are regular misses then there is an issue probably either with timing or spark (routing of plug wires, plug wire condition, plug condition) or dirty/gummed up intake tracts that are limiting the mixture entering the combustion chambers.
