FL Overheating

ok. well... iv had my share of overheating with this FC... i have antifreeze in the radiator. i open the other cap over the thermostat to let the air out the pump.
(idk if tht helps or not but my uncle use to mess with rotaries n i seen em do it n the car ran great afterwards.)

anyways. i keep the other bottle the way the sticker says. half water half antifreeze at the right level n blah.
now... yesterday. i was messin around a lil on 3rd gear with the rpm rangin from 5 to 7g's.... i heard it do the "POP" so i played with it to see if it would do it again. (its not sumthin tht hapens very often) and the ****** got hot quick. is tht how they r? does everyones on here suffer from the heat? i kno these motors get hot n **** but damn. cmon. so quick?

any info would b great. thanx

I'm having a hard time reading your Florida dialect, but let me know if I'm in the ballpark:

You put 50/50 water and antifreeze in the car.
You made sure that there was no air in the system by opening the other filler cap.
But, even after doing this, your car is still really hot after a 3rd gear pull?

Define hot. What does your stock gauge read? Do you have an aftermarket gauge that reads coolant temp?

And yes, rotary engines will generally run hotter than piston engines because there is always a power stroke going on in the combustion chamber so it never gets a real chance to cool down.

Here, let me see if I can do this.

His car is having a overheating problem. He's checked the coolant for air bubbles via disconnecting the hose connected to the water pump.

Coolant overflow tank is 50/50 with coolant/water.

The car runs fine until he goes WOT in 3rd, whereas it makes a loud pop and gets hot.

My stock guage goes all the way up to the line just before the red.
normally on a 3rd gear run its fine. but i think its just the way i was messing with it trying to get it to pop again was too much "excitement" for the car.

it just seems like when ever i happen to run the car hard wether it be on the highway or on the street (empty of course) it gets hot. this is my DD so when i drive it to and from work i get into it a little and just cruise and back and forth. maybe its just me noticing too much or there is a problem.

Mine did this alot to, and at first I thought I had a blown coolant seal because it would go through coolant like crazy. Turns out, my coolant system was just ineffective and was dumping coolant out as steam when it got too hot. I revamped the coolant system and put all the OEM plastics in (fan cover and what not) and that really helped. Trouble is, it seems my radiator is leaking or something cause every so often it dumps coolant from the bottom of the radiator.

Long story short, make sure everything is connected with all the proper plastics and what not. I can beat on mine a little in 3rd and get no problems, so again, just give everything the once over.

The car should not overheat. Obviously, something is wrong.
Coolant system:
Radiator
Water pump
hoses
thermostat (only use OEM Mazda)
Fan and clutch
coolant
Troubleshoot all of these areas. If the car overheats at idle, check the fan and clutch. If it overheats on the road, check the radiator.
Thermostat can cause all kinds of problems. Also, air in the system will give you issues. Usually, when you have an air pocket the coolant level sensor will go off from time to time.
