OMP Issues.. theory. (1991 Vert,according to profile.++Styx))
I got some issues with my FC.
My guy says it's most likely the OMP which supposedly is a pretty frequent problem with FC's. The thing is I don't believe its going to be needed to be replaced, i'm sure there's a way to rebuild it. Cause honestly, I don't have the cash for a new one.. maybe not even a used one.
But heres the problem. The car runs, but after about eh 15+ miles the CEL will light up, and what happens sucks.. The secondaries don't come on, You can literally feel the unresponsiveness, because of that I never press the accelerator more than half or raise the rpms over 3k. So I have to drive slow as ****, but I have a vert so it ain't too bad.
But my opinion, which isn't very educated in this circumstance mind you, Is that there is an electrical problem, since I've had a lot of relay/ bad grounds fixed so far. The entire wire diagram was put in by the guy I bought it from, who is a competent mechanic(15 years experience) but everybody makes mistakes I guess.
Oh well, what happens if I go over 3k or press down too much, is the lack of fuel being tossed in the housings causes the car to sputter, sort of like when you let the clutch out in a gear, but when I release and let the primaries be the only thing flowing, it drives fine.
This has got to be dangerous to my engine, if any one has had this problem or any relative advice please let me know.
Thanks guys,

The S5 has an electric OMP so when it decides to "go" it puts the ECU into Limp mode,so the car is pretty well Immobilized.
If the OMP keeps on sending erratic signals to the ECU it can take out the ECU too.
YOu can try replacing the OMP with a working OMP but if the car still acts up,you can bet that the ECU was damaged when the Original Omp took a dump.
So OMP and ECU..the famous pair that equals Limp mode/crappy driving.
S4 has a mechanical OMP so they do not encounter a limp mode problem.

It should be noted that "Limp Mode" is actually in place to save your engine from death when the OMP or any other critical failure occurs. You need to pull the code, to verify if you are having an OMP related issue or if its another problem.
If the code is in fact OMP related, you need to double check all of the OMP related wiring. If the wiring test good. You are unfortunately going to need to replace that OMP. The car is OK to drive in limp mode temporarily, but if daily driven like that, you do run risk of damaging the engine.
One last note, most people recommend adding at least a small amount of pre-mix (about 1oz per gal of fuel) just to ensure you don't damage the engine from oil starvation.

Why is it that when Mazda decided to not cut corners on something to make it all fancy and electrical, it ends up suckin..
Oh and is there any sort of premix y'all recommend? I haven't been using any.. but I haven't been driving that much either.

I've personally been using some basic TC-W3 stuff. It's a 2-stroke oil that's sold everywhere, including Walmart. I've also been using half a quart per tank, but I am still running my OMP (not for long) so that may be a little too much.
