New Stereo and Power Antenna... now car dies ?
Hi,
Pete here. My son Kevin just spent a ton of $ on a new stereo for his '82 RX7 with 12a engine in it. It also needed a new power antenna because they couldn't get the old one to work. Something to do with the way it was wired ? Anyway...he's had it for several weeks now and as he is driving it (with the stereo / ipod on) the car sometimes just stops....Even though the volt meter shows between 13 and 14 amps? At first I thought it was the wimpy 50amp alternator not keeping up with the load from his new stereo but now I'm thinking that the new antenna might be causing the problem, as it's now stuck in the "up" position and will not lower when the stereo is powered off. Has anyone else experienced something similar. This is very puzzling and incredibly frustrating. You all have been very helpful in the past and any insights are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
