Hello All:

So I am new to this whole RX7 thing. I picked an 88 up for free and it needs a ton of work. I got it running, but am having small problems with it here and their and could use some advice. Pleaes remember that I am a begginer at this so use small words. Here are my intial problems:

My brakes are spongey and leak brake fluid everyday I checked each bleeder by the tires and no leaks there so I am guessing it is my Master Cyliner. What do you think?

Second after the car warms up it starts reving up and down, Rmps shooting from 1.5 to 2ish I know its a mazda but is it really supposed to go zoom zoom zoom? JK. If i were to guess on this one I would say a vaccumm leak. So I went to Auto Zone to price a air intake vaulve and it was $900. I have a friend that tells me if I soak it in carborator fluid it should clean it and it may work again. Good idea? or terrible you tell me????

Next the car has pretty good power, some days better than others, but I want to get this thing running top notch. What are a few inexpensive ways to make it run smoother and not killing my pockets?

So I replaced the AICV and the car still revs up and down. Not sure what my next step would be??? Any advice?

Thanks for you help in advance
Rockboy

revving up and down is a TPS issue.
check on how to adjust the TPS.

Power Probs

I say get a aftermarket computer. Then a tune up, that should look after your idle and power probs.

You won't be wasting your money as you can use the computer later or just sell it.

Brakes

Get someone to depress the brake pedal while looking at the master cylinder and brake lines, that should help pinpoint your problem

don't forget to look under the dash where the petal goes through the fire wall for master cylinder leaks.
