Don't even mess with additives.

I've used it for years, always with great success. Very useful in reducing oil consumption in rotaries due to worn oil control rings.

Can you guys post some technical data of your experiences with Lucas Oil stabilizer? I'm not denying your successes with LOS... but "taking someone's word for it" is nothing without proof.

Oil additives = snake oil (A.K.A. - ***** enlargement pills)

Lucas Oil will obviously conjure up benefits of LOS when asked to produce them. (I mean, it IS their own product.) Anyone who buys the stuff reads the bottle, believes the small bit of provided information, and from then on gives it great reviews by word of mouth. Friends and family buy LOS, making Lucas Oil big bucks! Have I had experience with LOS? No... Because I know better.

Years ago I used Marvel Mystery Oil. Now, I choose not to. Waste of money. Why take the chance adding something to my oil when my oil has never failed me in the first place? Especially when Lucas Oil can only back their product with vague information and those lame oil-filled gear turning displays at auto parts stores. They're misleading.

Let me put this in layman's terms... "Regular old conventional oil just works."

Used it in two worn 12a engines strictly as an oil control ring "band-aid". I can't quantify the results better than that "it went from lots of smoke to little/no smoke."

On a healthy engine, I see it as unnecessary, but not damaging.

bingo
nobody said stick it in your new rx8

what is not more technically obvious than it doesnt smoke the street out when you start up cold
or engine decel with a worn out engine
it is a bandaid if you want to hang in there for a wee bit longer and will harm nothing at the recommended concentration

they pull down PERFECTLY clean and do not affect the reuse of any parts
i have at least a dozen engines in bits
no one can tell which ones had moreys/lucas and which ones didnt

whats not obvious when your gearbox runs noticably cooler
you note the difference if you have to pull it off between runs on a 40 C degree day
its also obvious when you have a 12at "M" gearbox and it holds up in racing and daily use behind a worked 13bt
[ i use 1:1:1 lucas ( 70 W ) , gear oil ( 90 W ) and trans fluid, 15 + years and counting ]

its also obvious when it shuts up your home welded locker in your rx2
