Low-End Torque

Hey there, just wondering what would be the best/most effective mods to greatly increase low end torque/torque in general.

Thanks!

supercharger

no i'm not kidding, only thing you can do is increase compression and that isn't going to gain much unless on a turbo setup and then you become limited or need to run alternative high octane fuels.

rotaries are not "grunty" engines like say a V8 is. their power is made gradually and at higher RPMs, more like a 2 stroke engine. only other way is to add rotors, like a 20B or the one off 4, 6 and 12 rotor engines.

Some options:
- 20B, V8, or other larger displacement engine conversion
- Correctly-sized ball bearing turbocharger (contrary to popular belief, boost produces torque)
- Roots or Lysholm type supercharger (but not a centrifugal type)
- Weber EFI throttle body or carb conversion kit with long air horns, combined with a good exhaust system.

Thanks for the replies guys, just wondering if there is an option to increase low end torque while keeping the 13b engine in the fd?

20B engine, very long tube headers all the way to a colector by the tail shaft of the trans and NA rotors. A good PP port with long or variable ITB runners.

Keep the stock twins in sequential mode.

Yes, a good aftermarket ball bearing turbo will do it. Just have your tuner size it for low-end torque, and do not port the intake.

Here is an example with a 20B FD, and you could just apply the same concept to your 13B:

From what I have read the camden supercharger kits should help. A lot of people say they are not worth it though.
