just got my 1988 fc need help

I just bought a 1987 rx7, and i dont know a whole lot about the cars. I know it has an idle problem, but other than that it runs fine. The rpm gauge also doesnt work, and hasnt sence the pervious owner got it. The exhaust is pretty much rotted out, and the shifter needs bushings. It would help if I knew alil bout what im doing, and a cheap place to find parts online. Also I need most of the interior plastic peice cause most of them are shatterd. Plz i need some help on this stuff cant find parts any where.

There is a Black wire which hangs from the leading coil which is inches long and connected to nothing. This wire has what's called a "bullet connector," which is like a round tube. The trailing coil also has this very same connector. Take a wire which is long enough and bare at both ends and stick one end of the wire into the leading bullet connector and the other end of the wire into the trailing coil bullet connector and see if this makes the tachometer work or not. This will help to identify whether the tach is damaged itself or if the issue is a function of the wiring involved.

Try to say away from the Mazda Dealership's Parts Dept they dont know anything about your car and will most likely get you to by parts you dont need.
