Increase power
What are some basic things to start with on an 85 gsl se to increase horsepower. I am going to be building this car up as a project and just don't know where to start.

Not return to stock, increase horsepower which means get that exhaust done first. Any tune up will be wasted since you'll be doing it all over again with the unchoked exhaust breathing.... ![Wink](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I agree with the exhaust and also an intake.. I have always been a firm beliver that to make a car perform better you have to make it stop and handle better.. So with a tune-up first to make sure the car is running at it's best.. then start from there... Honestly with the proper modifcations to the air/fuel/ and exhuast, dont be surprised to get into the 200hp range... and the best part is that if you search you can find all the parts you need for cheap...
Another thing is that you must first decide is what your building your car for and how you will drive it.. you want a dependible street car, a weekend fun car, a solo class race car. etc... once you done that get your budget right and most of all time.. dont be like my buddy and go broke from trying to build a race car and drive it on the street and waste thousnads of dollars repairing stupid mistake.. this site will definatly put you in theright direction
For you F/C take the same steps but don't jump on the ignition set-up to early.. the later model 2nd gen and 3rd gen RX-7s were much better on the ignition set-up than the first gen, not to say the first gen wasnt good in the first place...
Hopefully that helps..
