help me! 93 13btt into a 87 fc3s.
I got the motor with engine harness, trans, accessories, turbos, down pipe and ecu yesterday for $500. I'm getting a 87 fc3s base model non turbo shell without driveshaft. What do I need to get to do this swap? I'm making custom solid motor and trans mounts but I don't know what to do about the drivesshaft and if what I have will get the car functioning correctly.

Oahu. Got the deal off a military guy that's doing an ls1 swap. He needed the motor gone asap and needed some cash for the small stuff needed for the swap. Intake is a bit oily so the seals in the primary turbo must be going but there is no shaft play at all. The vacuume hoses are pretty hard but I got a guy that can get me some high heat/ high pressure hoses. FoolBattle garage is gonna make me a custom top mount single turbo manifold once I get the flange from racing beat. Planning on a v-mount intercooler and radiator setup. Custom front and rear bumper supports, roll cage, solid motor and trans mounts, stitch weld chassis, A pillar pod gauges and single tip exhaust all from FoolBattle garage. And I got a guy that's good with wiring so all I need to know are the essentials to making this run in an 87 non turbo s4 shell. I guess ill find out once I enter the other forums :-). What island u from?

Ok just read up on it and it doesn't look as disappointing as I thought it would be. I got resources to custom fab work so it shouldn't be soo bad. Running a stand alone is also a plan worth having and having a 255lph fuel pump is also not soo bad. Only down side is price to me! Still looking forward to pulling this off! Not to mention doing the custom x-member! Ill definitely post pix when I get the shell! Thanks for the help in guiding me thru this awesome forum!

haha its a complete 13b rew and i just got to turn the motor and its got some compression still :-) im not planning on selling it sorry. im planning on doing a street port to it and rebuilding it. i cut the 14 pin plug off it (the one that goes to the gauges i think) and gave that back to the guy i bought it from but its ok because its going into an fc so im gonna have to repin and rewire it anyway. other than that i may have found a single turbo manifold for it but i think i plan to just custom make a top mount for myself so i can gauge where i want the turbo to sit. planning on a gt4088. does anyone know what i should run for an ecu or should i stick with the stock fd ecu? i want all the fc gauges to work if possible and i want the motor to run very smooth. thinking megasquirt or power fc... idk much about stand alones or rotaries. any helpful input about this will be greatly appreciated! btw im getting the fc shell very soon! will read up on posting pix and put some up :-) thanks again!

Thanx. Btw any input about what mods I should consider to push about 350hp and still daily drive? I kind of want this car to be as quiet as possible as well. Basically I want a quiet but fun daily driver out of this car. I can't fit two cars at my house (one for daily and one for track) so that's why I need this car to be best of both worlds.

Although I respect the fact that this is your car and your project, unless you're fully cognizant of the task you're about to undertake, I'd recommend just building an FC motor to include porting and pinning the block in preparation for the turbo. The FD engine mounts are bolted to the rear iron, and iirc, the FC engine mounts are in the middle of the block, meaning that there's going to be some form of subframe modification or creation. Again the time and money could be spent on building a strong fresh FC engine. Furthermore solid engine AND transmission mounts are going create a headache-inducing amount of NVH, and it's hard to imagine the car being either "quiet" or "daily."

It looks like you have a lot of questions, but you certainly aren't going to a blueprint for your build by asking them all in this thread. A lot of valuable information regarding alternate engines in RX-7s has been compiled throughout rx7club.com and can be found by hitting the "Search" button at the top of the page.

Or, a 2nd gen 13BT bolts right in and a BNR hybrid turbo (stage 2 or 3) will do the same and end up cheaper since you won't have to fab to make the engine fit, or run a full standalone.

Thanks for the heads up and input. I'm new here so I guess the search browser is going to be my friend haha. Unfortunately any rx7 is rare to find in hawaii so that's why I jumped on this 13b rew for $500. I'm considering an fc motor but it will be a while before I can find one and chances are that it will need to be rebuilt due to abuse. I don't mind the custom fabrication but it would be nice to get the car going asap. Might end up buying a TII motor somehow and sell this rew.

Thanks. Ill be online more often and will post pix as well as posting in the right forums about this build. The guys at foolbattle garage are pushing me to go through this swap that I have just because they want to help me build it and sponsor the car when its done. All the custom fabrication will be through them and I know they are very capable of doing it right, its just a lot of time and money (discounted because I work for them) but I feel it would be worth it.
