Welcome to the forum.
These cars are great as daily drivers... when they work. The biggest hurdle you are going to run into is that most cars you get ahold of these days will need to be restored before they are modified. These cars are all old enough that even the well-kept one-owner vehicles are due for new joints and bushings. You are going to spend the first period of ownership just fixing it back to the way it should be. I would say from my experience that a mostly stock rx7 is more enjoyable as a daily driver than a modified one. If you go straight into modifications, you will have no way of diagnosing issues that are caused by other decrepit parts of the car. This isn't a bad thing though. By spending the time, you can also figure out where you actually want to spend your money modifying things. I have changed over the years from wanting a ton of aftermarket stuff, to wanting it mostly stock, with a few modifications for sanity. This forum can help you with understanding the factory stuff, and a little bit of aftermarket stuff, providing the factory stuff is functioning correctly.
Owning an FC Rx7 is a commitment for sure. Getting the best possible car you can start with will help a lot. If you get a rusted out bucket, you aren't going to have a very good time. If you have specific questions, feel free to let us know!

welcome. if u don't know anything about rotary, i suggest getting a daily driver/beater. to someone new, a rotary can and will be down for days at a time while chasing down a problem. how many miles? hate to see a failure in just a few weeks/months of ownership and need a rebuild. ever have to rush replace parts so u can drive to work? i have. not to mention how parts r getting harder to find. even knowing them as well as i do, i'd still not have it as my ONLY transportation.
