Grinding Noise 85 GSL
First, thank you for your time in viewing this post and for all input. Little background on the car. Is an unmolested '85 RX-7 GSL with 170k miles that sat for two years. There was a crack in the fuel line just before the filter, so there was no fuel in the tank (was shocked when I unbolted the nut to drain the tank). Replaced the plugs, wires, oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. The master and slave cylinders need to be replaced but will get to that later. At first she wouldn't idle below 4k, turned out the accelerator cable was binding, loosened that up and now shes down to 1.5k and sometimes can get her to idle at 750. In the process of tweaking the idle, I noticed a nasty grinding noise that seems to be coming from the engine, particularly at startup and shutdown. I took a video capturing the sound in the link below, sprayed carb cleaner to quiet her down a bit so you can hear it better. Worried it might be the apex seals . Thanks guys.

it sort of sounds like the alternator is making that squeaky noise.
You will have to start eliminating some factors.
One is start up the car without a alternator belt to See what I think( bad bearings in alt..sticky alt) will take that noise away.
Oh..if that engine has a Air pump then try to take that out of the equation too.
Sometimes the pump will seize and not allow the belts to roll freely and the belts will squeal.

And with cover on. I meant this vid to help figure out the misfire that is going on, personally couldn't hear that noise in the vid.
