Cool and thanks Pele. I saw it once and from what he described, sounded like the pre production.

I know it doesnt matter much now, but in the future best bet to get the front pully nut off is to heat it up with torch and then zip off with impact.

Everything points to that being a European spec car... Extra fog lights on the rear, distributor, side markers, headlight squirters... All Euro spec stuff.

I'd definitely like to take a look at the engine closer. Not sure if I could gather anything from underhood labels, as that hood's obviously been replaced by the light aluminum Turbo2 hood.

I'd also like to see the stickers in the door jamb.

That is the thing, there is no sticker on the door jamb. I just went out in the shop and looked. Sorry I don't have a camera here. MAZDA Japan sent it over to MAZDA North America to work out the details for the U.S. production cars. So there are some strange things on it, like the TurboII hood. And you can tell the hood looks like it was worked with, to figure out latching, rod prop placing, etc. It was never titled in the U.S. until Jim Downing purchased it from Dave Jolley, the original person who got it from Mazda N.A. Dave could never get it titled in California, so Jim got it titled in GA, ealier this decade.

Very interesting.

Could you call Mazda North America with the VIN to get some info?
I've done that for various cars that I've hauled out of the scrap yard to get originally ordered options and what retrofits and recalls have been done.

How can I be clearer here???? This car was not produced for anyone to purchase. It was a pre-production car. There were no defined specs for the car, MAZDA Japan sent this car to MAZDA N.A. .

So long delay I washed all said parts, now looking into bead blasting them. Does anyone have any tips on the blasting itself, anything to not do?
