Gauges not working

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and rx7's altogether. Last weekend my cousin/s turned me on to RX7's and i caught the bug hard. After reading and searching I picked up a 88' FC GTU. It runs smooth and straight.

For my first fix I'd like to tackle the gauge problem. The Fuel, Battery, Oil and Temp cluster work intermittently. The Oil gauge stays on, the Battery and Temp don't work and the Fuel works some times.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your time.

Dave

A loose plug on the back of the cluster, or cold solder joints could be the cause.

Thanks for the reply.

I removed the instrument cluster and blew compressed air on the wire harness connectors and cluster itself. Looks like it did the trick. Temp gauge still doesn't seem to be working properly. I will monitor it.

Thanks again.

You might also want to clean up the connectors for the water temp sender and oil pressure sender. Both are located on the rear iron under the oil filter.

Thanks for your reply.

I will check those above senders. Any ideas on why the fuel gauge works intermittently? More specifically, the fuel gauge will read after I fill up and then for a little bit after but i've noticed that once the gas gets down to about 2/3 full (or 1/3 empty depending on how you read) it will no longer read fullness. Not sure if the amount of gas in tank is related but thought I'd give all info possible.

Thanks again.
