Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
I am assuming that you are doing this with the motor in the car still, right??
If so, what I normally do, is either use a impact wrench or if you don't have an impact wrench then I will take a 1/2 breaker bar and socket.
Unplug the coils or spark plug wires.
Place the socket and breaker bar on the E-shaft bolt, with the handle of the breaker bar resting on the body of the car. Then give just a slight momentary crank on the starter (turn the key for just a second to start). This should break the bolt loose.
Remember that if you loosen that bolt and the engine is in the car, make sure you continue to hold the clutch in. There is a bearing that can drop if the bolt is loose and the e-shaft slides backwards even the most minimal amount.

What Icemark stated about that bearing is very, very important! Here is a link to the Mazdatrix FAQ about that bearing.

It is an excellent read with plenty of pics, and it gives you tips for both the engine in and out of the car.

Oil leak vanished
I had a similar experience with 91 model. I didn't have an impact wrench but did use the largest socket driver I had. I was moving the car with the car in gear and my son standing on the brake. Could not get the bolt out at that time and needed to work on regular car. We put every thing back together so I could drive RX to work and the oil leak stopped. I speculate I put enough torque on the bolt to stop the leak when we gave up in frustration.
My only question is when I get into this again can I cause any damage to the engine seals by turning the rotors while removing the bolt?
