Float Bowl Sight Seals

Hey guys, new guy here.
I just bought my first 7, its an 83. Used to run well, but sat for 2 years. Engine is in pretty good shape, but the aesthetics are pretty rough. Needs paint, new seat upholstery, etc. Ill post pics up in a few minutes

Anyways, I bought it off a buddy of mine, who bought it a few months back from the original owner, but didnt end up wanting to restore the whole thing. Anyways, hes a mechanic, so he offered to rebuild the carb for me if i bought it, so, since i was planning on buying it anyways, i took him up on it. Anyways, ordered a carb kit from carpartsdiscount.com, and theres one thing missing. In the float bowl sight assembly, theres the main body clearly, then a rubber o ring seal, the glass sight, a little paper slip to keep the glass off of the metal, and then the actual metal cover. Kit didnt come with those O-rings, and none of the kits, cheap or nice, that i can find online seem to include them. Im assuming we shouldnt be reusing them, because theyre hard as hell, but i cant find them available anywhere. Where do you get these? Or, are those the only seals in the history of the world that you should reuse?

I just rebuilt my carb on my 85. I purchase the carb kit from Autozone for $27.99 and the rubber o-ring seals were included. The kit is made by GPSorenson.

Well, shoot. I might need to buy a new kit. Looks like the one i got is from walker. Ill call the site i got it from and try and get it sorted, but now im a bit concerned about anything ELSE missing from the kit. The paper backings were there.

AAAAAAAAaand just got off the phone with the vendor who gave me walkers number, and walker says they dont make any mazda kits. I think im just out $30.

Is it typical to rebuild a carb and not to rebuild the sight assembly? Because according to the dude at the vendor, they sell 2-3 a month and im the only registered problem

I'll be honest. I had to look up how to spell "carburetor", but like you said earlier if they are as hard and brittle as you said, I'd sure rather replace them then have to take it back off and disassemble it just to replace those later. Maybe someone with more experience can offer some more creditable advice.

yeah, the carb was so varnished up he couldnt open it to spray cleaner in it, so he tore the whole thing down and soaked it in carb cleaner. Its already been disassembled, so im kinda stuck finding another seal. when you DO bother with them, where do you get them, if you dont mind me asking?

I just replaced those yesterday from that kit. The Autozone parts number is 96-555. It came with two of them. I don't know what the guy was smoking, but they are in the kit.

Icluded in sorenson kit and the walker I got, but dude at AZ and I were expecting square cross section plastic, not round. Spent 2 weeks looking for parts I had.

I feel like I could almost outsmart a dead fish right about now lol.

guess i should have said i've never had to replace them. they didn't leak and i just disassembled them to clean the glass and the seals looked fine. didn't leak afterwards either.
