Exclamation A few Questions that I would like answered!!!!

[CENTER]Alrighty.

I have an S4 RX-7 and I had a couple of questions about it that I can't find answers to, So if you could answer any of these, I would be very thankful!!

#1. Will a S5 Turbo engine be a direct bolt in to my S4 Chassis (same motor mounts)
without modifying the inside of the engine bay?

#2. I am missing some of the molding on the car...
I was wondering if S5 molding will fit on a s4 body?

#3. if the S5 moldings don't fit, does anyone know of a good place to buy the S4 moldings?

... well I had more questions but they slipped my mind, so I'll probably add them later, but these three are the main ones I needed to address.

Thanks.

These might sound pretty noobish, but No one else i know has an RX-7, So I figured this was the best place to ask!!

An S5 TII engine will fit physically (nearly identical to S4 TII), but electrically it is not plug 'n play. Mixing electronics/wiring between series is overly complicated. An S4 engine is a much better route.

S5 trim will fit on S4s, but it will not match the bumpers. Look at the banner at the top of the forum and you'll see the S5 trim shape is different.

yeah, I knew they were different but I needed to know that they would fit, I'm the future I'm planning on getting a bodykit for the car so the front and back bumpers will be gone anyway, I just needed to know that they would work, cause i can't find series 4 molding for a good price anywhere

and thanks for the tip on the engine, I knew the electrical and wiring would be different, but all engines I looked at came with the ecu, wiring harness, etc...

but ya thanks for the input!!

another Question!!!

does anyone know a good intake for a s4 rx7...

the only one I can find is a K&N filter...

I was also wondering why most of the other intakes you find are S5 only( or will they work on both?)

Thanks again!!

if i was you id do my own intake and add an aftermarket filter remove the filter box and plastic above fan shroud. u will have to keep the maf in there or u can even use the stock intake hose and just throw in an aftermarket filter.

A J-spec EM harness will be junk (too short for a US car), but besides that S5 harnesses will not properly mate with the S4 harnesses in the car. There's much more to it than sticking an S5 ECU and EM harness in.

The stock airbox is the best intake for all but heavily ported NAs. When you go the cone filter route, you run into the problem of preventing the intake from sucking in hot engine bay air. A custom box or ductwork is needed to accomplish this, and after all that it's likely not going to do anything for power. The stock airbox just isn't a restriction on the NA models.

hey rotary rocket will u look at my profile pics and tell me if i should redo my intake? cause i see exactly what your saying about hot engine air. but to be honest in most na cars ive ever seen even on here they have had a filter instead of an air box. and no tubing over the fanshroud at all. i have the end of my cone tubed to a horn(intake horn thing) in the front bumper where its gets plenty of forced air while driving.

Yeah I would normally just keep the stock airbox, but Mine has cracks on the side(so it could be pulling dust and debris into the engine). I was thinking of getting a apexi cone filter and putting that on the stock piping... all my plans are up in the air at the moment lol.

I think replacing the engine is the first on my list though...
My Engine has 216,000 miles on it and counting.

I might sell this one and just buy a S5 turbo, save myself from buying the engine and having someone install it.

and finally the final question I'll probably ask!

Does anyone in here have "Megan street series coilovers"?

I've had mine since the new year started, and ever since I got them aligned, my front drivers side coil Pings sometimes (actually the only time it does it is when i reverse out of my parking spot and turn the wheel to drive away...)

thats the only time it happens, I could drive it another 40 miles and it doesn't do it again until the next day with i back out of my spot again.

any info would be helpful guys!!!

and thanks again for those of you who have responded!!
